 That's only cause of the hype factor.  It's the same reason why LBP gets made fun of, because the ps3 fans made it to be "huge". So naturally the 360 fans are gonna jump all over it if sales aren't what to be expected.

The same goes for the xbox fans hyping up the almighty "king of rpg's" so again only natural for ps3 fans to celebrate when there rpg's do better.

lets keep in mind that games help create install base , the 360 has more jrpg support in japan

I never saw anyone say that the PS3 can't sell RPGs, or that if WKC doesn't sell it's because it's on the PS3. I have seen people say the 360 can't sell JRPGs, though, and if you read the OP (or the title), then you should be aware that the entire premise of this thread is that it's some kind of amazing thing that WKC is the best selling HD JRPG in Japan.

I'm not trying to spin it negatively, either. Why on earth should I? The game sold pretty well. Unlike a lot of people here, I don't take offense when this happens. My point was that you're vanquishing strawmen.

WKC benefitted from being on a system with 3 times the userbase of the 360. I think we all saw this coming. I wouldn't be so sure about the game being the best selling HD JRPG untill FFXIII comes out. For all we know, SO4 could outsell WKC in worldwide sales.

I saw plenty of people here say the PS3 can't sell JRPG, and the same people went as far as using sales of SRPG to make their flawed point. This was from the usual suspects. They still clung on the belief that the West would make for the abysmal sales in the East. This never materialized, so people are bitter now.

These discussions come mainly from XBox owners, as they are HD wars grasping at straws to make believe they're relevant anymore. They brought it upon themselves too, using wrong qualifiers like "JRPG king", despite them knowing it was wrong all along, and now they search for excuses.

Perhaps you're too new here though.

Anyway, even if WKC outsells in one week the LTD of the best selling JRPG in Japan on XB360, this just validates the pipe dreams in which some people were. These still are not good sales at all for this high budget game.

But then again, it doesn't play on Level 5 strengths (it's not even a cell shaded game, and is clearly made to appeal to more western tastes), so I'm not surprised.

 Well at least you are admitting you said that without seeing anyone say that. But I  and many other people as well have seen people say WKC will sell less than 100k because of games like Disgea and VC and then they point to LO and BD.

Hell they tried saying that ToV, TLR, and SO4 were all 360 exclusive because they will sell better and it was a business choice for the devs while their examples included VC vs LO
