Forums - Nintendo - Patcher: 'Wii = console of the year'.

NONE of the consoles will die out. Why? Because as long as the companies keep making games for them people will keep buying a console to play them on.

Nintendo will OBVIOUSLY hype up the release of Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus, driving up sales even further. If they announce a killer app for the Holidays (like a Zelda or Mario game) sales will ramp up as well. Hell, even the releases of titles like Sin and Punishment 2 and Punch-Out!! will create some sales.

The only way a console can truly die is when the console maker stops making games for it and unless the company is REALLY in trouble its very rare. Hell, Nintendo kept releasing Gamecube games until the Wii was launched.

So to believe that sooner or later the Wii will "die out" as well as the 360 and PS3 is being idiotic.

He also said PS3 will explode in 2-4 years due to "Wii households" upgrading to a PS3 when they get bored of the Wii and their kids grow up to 10-12 years old.

I commend him for giving the Wii some points, but he's still the same generally clueless Pachter he's always been.

I loved the expression of the two other guys when patcher said 'Wii deserves it' they were like...'Dude what is he saying, he needs vacation!'.

Yes, that was funny. It was also funny when they were talking about the Wii in 2007/2008/2009. Something like "2007 was the year of the hardcore gamer, 2008 of the casual gamer" and then acted as if they didn't know anything about Nintendo's plans for 2009. They didn't even mention WM+, and said "2009 won't be a year of the Wii".

Hey, don't you believe in tradition. They were wrong about it in 2007. They were wrong about it in 2008. Why do you expect them to be right about 2009?

They are half right. In a few years, some Wii users will be ready for more story, more time commitment, better graphics but I very seriously doubt that they will get those things by turning their back on the philosophy and control system that got them on board. They will undoubtably look to the Wii2 to provide both.

Whoever that one Ryan guy was, he was really butthurt in the middle of the video.

I get better analysis from the posters on this website.

150vg$ bet(with haggy) mk wii 2009 worldwide sales > any 360/ps3 game released in 2009.

current mk wii worldwide sales (jan 9th): 553k

I don't think the Wii is the console of the year so I agree with the two guys next to him. 360 had better quality games and though didn't sell as well, still deserves the console of the year status

(posting here to watch video later) =p
