How were they ever the king? Nintendo was the most successful last generation. THey made the most money on gaming.
^^ uh, while I hate to defend Sony on anything right now (I really do), there is no doubt in my mind that Sony was by far the king of last generation... they just screwed this gen up in a serious way.

Yeah, and imagine how well a $149.95 Wii and a $99.95 XBOX 360 Arcade would sell...

Sony equity does still have exist, it is just very shakey. I have a friend who is looking to buy a console. The only games he talks about are shooters and sports so I wasn't going to stear him to the Wii. He talked about getting a PS3. I knew his favorite game is Gears so I asked him what on the PS3 he liked.
Madden.
The 360 versions are at least as good.
But I like the controler!
Playstation was what he was comfortable with, and that comfort was worth something to him. But in the end not quite that much. I talked him out of buying a $200 controler that couldn't play his favorite game.

King of...What? It was the king of 6th gen. That's gone, and the Wii is trouncing it in terms of pacing. The torch has been passed, and the Wii is the all-powerful king of all consoles.
Down Nintendo fanboys as much as you like, but their console is selling beyond epic proportions - especially given their footing last gen. Whereas Sony fans have been choking on every move Sony has made with the Playstation 3.
It's like the Sega fans and Nintendo fans when the PS1 came out. It created a new breed of what had the chops to do well as a gaming console.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
