Forums - Nintendo - Thinking about Investing in a Wii

Now I currently own a PS3 which I bought from Launch and I used to have an Xbox 360 but the RROD problem got me about 3 times -__-u....Anyway I have seen some titles that Have really Piped my interest in a Wii but I would like to know if the Wii actually has more to offer then what is actually advertised on tv.

Im a Hardcore Gamer at heart and unless the casual games are of a strong quality I usually say fuck'em as most tend to be shovelware.

Im intersted in games like

Zelda: Twilight Princess

Super Smash Bros Brawl

No More Heroes

Metroid Prime

Super Mario Galaxy

Are these the only truly Hardcore games out for the Wii or am I missing a huge catalogue of gaming and should really think of buying one or Am I just wasting my time in even purchasing one because Imo in the minority for the Wii gaming community? Oh and can any of these use a Gamecube controller instead of the Wii-Mote (I really think I might get bored or tired of the Wii-mote and would like to go back to a more traditional sense of gaming)

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Hm, hardcore? That's pretty much not-existant, a myth maybe. You're _mainstream_ like me ^_^ Check GameRankings for top games, then read some reviews. That's really easy job to do, no need to ask every time. Or post you preferences at least when asking. I don't know your taste in game.

You can use a gamecube controller in Smash bros brawl from that list.

You are missing on your list great traditional games like both resident evil games, wario land, Okami, Fire emblem and tales of symphonia, those are my personal favorites, but there are plenty of other hardcore games to choose from.

The answer is easy: just get it! =)

Psst, get Mega Man 9. Best 8-bit styled game ever.

The ones you name are already a great start, but if you want some more;

* Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. Very harcore SRPG
* Okami and RE4 if you haven't played those earlier
* Zack and Wiki is a great point & click game
* Tales of Symphonia 2 if you like JRPGs
* World of Goo and Boom Blox are great puzzlers
* Wario Land and LostWinds are great 2D platformers
* BlastWorks and Geometry Wars are great Arcade shooters
* House o/t Dead 2+3 / Ghost Squad / RE:UC if you like lightgun shooters
* deBlob (platformer)
* Shaun White Snowboarding

There are a few like Benga Benga listed but I'm guessing some of them will be stretching your idea of "hardcore". As you already have the other consoles and are still looking for something more I'd say yes, get a Wii. But don't expect to blown away by a magnificent range of "hardcore" games.

The remote thing can definitely be annoying. I've been hyped about a few games then put off buying them because there was no normal controller option. For a lot of games motion controls are a big enhancement but in a lot of others they're just a pain and detract from the game.

most of the games for 2009 mentioned in this thread http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=34940 i would consider as "hard core" games.

i would consider mario kart wii too, as that is a great mix between hardcore and casual gaming, casual gamers can play it and can win too but to really master it u need a lot of practise.

as for other possible hardcore games, i'm not sure if u know all games but there are plenty in this thread:

Improvements are caused by people who complain

What's hardcore?

All games I listed are definitely not shovelware or sloppy ports. All genres can be hardcore imo. Puzzlers can be very hardcore imo and shooters very casual. You can play GTA casual but also core.

But most hardcore as in very hard to master is Fire Emblem. I think it's the most hardcore console game of this gen so far.

Exactly, that's why I put it in speech marks because it's a bullshit term. But he's after "hardcore" so that's what I based my reply on.
