You know its not complusary for a company to drop its products price every year right? Sony need to make a profit sometime you know.
AND Sony ISN`T droping price already For MORE than 1 year. =)

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Yeah, tell me how do you think Sony are going to pull a price cut off? and still make profit on the PS3?

Don`t forget, PS3 WON Blu-ray vs HD DVD war, so it`s has compensation from that market. :)

If Nintendo can finally produce enough Wiis for NA next year. Both the 360 and PS3 market share will drop. The only reason they are as high as they are in NA is because of lack of Wii supply from Nintendo.

I'm sorry but you reek of blinded fanboy. There is no way Sony can price drop and still keep a profit off the console.

Sony need to make a profit you know? The exchange rate is hurting them enough, even if they drop costs of the PS3 they might still only break even.

Didn't MSFT project that the PS3 will drop into single digits market share in America? If so then 15% will be actually awesome.
