The first one has more space, has a higher RPM, and is cheaper. That could be the one you'd want to choose.

However, since it has a higher RPM, it's going to produce more heat. Does anybody else know how higher RPM hard drives handle inside the PS3?

@IllegalPaladin. Im not sure, I think 5400rpm would be safer as that's Standard. 8MB Cache or 16MB Cache doesn't really make any difference, maybe Slightly quicker Installs and load times (Miniscule)

yeah the first one sounds like a better deal.

but the higher rpm is abit worry some.

Only the second one seems to be SATA, does sataii work?

An article on it

I'd go with the first one. And I don't think there would be much of a heat difference.

4 ≈ One

Personally I would buy it from NCIX.ca but if you want to buy it at Futureshop I'd say the first one.

the 2nd one u want to keep ur ps3 spec the same higher rpm might do damage the stock HDD is 5200 although it's been tested has i been tested over a long period of time? it might not over heat now but but all that stress might build up over time 1-2 years down the road u'll see the effects of it

Seagate is good but maybe 5400rpm is better. Mine is 250gig SATA at 5400rpm and works perfectly.

Some advice though:
before you change the hardrive call sony and ask them to send you an HDD case (whatever its called). That way you could just remove the old one and not have to worry about the very hard to remove screws.
