Forums - Sales - How is VGChartz going to keep track of Warhawk sales?

this is pathetic

he only had a question for ioi and you immediately go for the bashing.

I keep hoping for tallies done by Sony on PSN for there d/l games, maybe.

After thinking a little more on it I am sure Sony will release the numbers at some press event or in their quarter results. The numbers should be very accurate considering it would only be what was actually purchased, as their is no shipping for digital content. It would be cool however if ioi could get in touch with Sony and see if they would allow him the numbers. It would be a smart move for them and I am sure NPD also would be interested just the same. I don't know how to get in touch with Sony and I am sure it wouldn't be easy, but it would give the site even more credability. I do trust the numbers on this site and know ioi does a great job adjusting when need be, but the more accurate the better.

staying on topic of this thread... warhawk numbers are gonna be very interesting... theres no way to track the numbers unless someone has an inside guy that works at sony or sony releases them.. i expect this game to do fairly well though.. feedback on it has been quite positive from what i have read.. and the ps3 needs another game as of right now..

I agree, a better question would be, will this site be updated once the numbers for GTP, SOCOM, Wipehout HD, Warhawk or any other full fledged game that is sold over on the PSN is released? From the looks of the current game DB, I doubt it. I also don't know if Sony would release the numbers for PSN downloads, have they released any numbers yet?

As for now it looks like most people will pick retailer version up...

There was a poll on ps3fanboy.com

http://poll.pollcode.com/F6S5_result

I think this game will sell pretty descently. I would say 75k - 100k for week one (US).

@ leo-j

 Why? I'm fine

I very much doubt the numbers would be updated if Sony releases them. The purpose of this site is to track retail sales, nothing more nothing less.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

GT:HD was downloaded 1mil times they said that at E3, i'm not sure about any others. I also heard Wii's online store has 5.6mil sales, from wiki, not too sure how good a source that is :P

I agree, and there are enough incomplete data from retail versions as is....

(I really can't see WarHawk doing that well - at retail anyway. This sort of game has been around for years on the PC, and it falls into the category of "more of the same" IMO).

And Halo would have been a more of the same on PC, but this is console gaming.

Halo is a huge brand name, created by a multi-million (x50) campaign - as the launch title of MS's first console. And it was in the news for years prior to that.

You can't seriously compare Halo & WarHawk. WarHawk doesn't even have a single player campaign, does it? Its just Tribes/Battlefield for the PS3?

Gears of war sold for sure much because of the online mode.

Quake 3 was also more of the same (Unreal) and had no singleplayer mode but it sold a lot more
than Quake 4 who had a SP mode;

err... the Quake engine is way different then the Unreal engine.  The Quake engine is a lot better IMO.

I normally don't find much to disagree with Shams on, but I think this will do well. This hasn't been done on consoles much (battlefield 2 for 360 didn't translate well, IMHO) and I don't know of any major 3rd Person shooter/Flight Multiplayer Games on PC. Either way it is a whole different audience, and comes with a head set... I might end up not getting it though, MP3 comes out the day before.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
