Forums - Nintendo - Apathy for the Wii

When things are slow I look in the forums I don't normally frequent to find threads I'm interested in.  What I find interesting these days is that I'm completely apathetic towards the Wii.  Normally that would mean I wouldn't even bother posting something like this but I thought it was interesting especially in light of some of the Wii threads I've noticed recently.

Some of these threads are bashing videogame sites or videogame journalists but to be honest I think the reason many are saying what they are about the Wii is because they too are currently feeling apathy towards it.  The biggest new games for the system in the past few months have been Animal Crossing which apparently is just a rehash and Wii Music which while having its defenders seems to really live up to its title of being a non-game because who really is playing it.

This of course will change in the future but for those bashing videogame journalists, maybe that's the reason they are basically saying what they are about the system.  After you talk about sales, and really how long does it take to say it's selling amazingly well, what else is there really to talk about?  Games that are coming out next year?  The Dragon Quest X announcement really shouldn't have surprised anyone and the game won't be seen for at least another year or two.  Other than that are the same handful of promising games that we've already heard about months ago.

Anyways that's all I have to say and this isn't a knock against Wii owners or anything, I hope you're enjoying your system.  I just hope it explains to some who think what's being said is out of fear or anger or whatever emotion you can think of, it's likely just indifference.

Wrong forum, try this one instead, thank you.

You obviously havent seen the hundreds of videos of kids screaming in joy when they got the Wii the other day

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

People bash things in self interest. You write this article in self-interest to find people who agree with you. They write those things against journalists or others to make themselves feel more correct.

I write the Nintendo disrespect thread for justice. To make a point. You should try it every now and then.

If people are feeling apathy towards whatever or whoever that's great. Make the point and stand buy it. Just do it with a certain level of respect for others and the the companies. That's what's right.

You're wrong about DQX. If it would have been announced as a PS3 or 360 exclusive, it woulda torn the fanboy wars a new hole.

The internet core gaming clique might have lost interest in the Wii, but that doesn't give anyone the right to be unfair to the console, just because they feel there won't be any fanboy backlash consequences.

The Wii is going through a tough time for games right now. It's still the best damn hardware on the market, because it actually added something to the way we play games. The other two consoles didn't. If the software was there, then the Wii would without a doubt "deserve" to have the 50 percent marketshare that it already demands.

Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean your meaningless opinion is a "news story."

Entheusiast press immaturity really pisses me off.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Well, so long as we're all getting things off our chests...

Some of the Nintendo fans on this forum have become the most condescending jerks with laughable double standards. Now, remember. I said some, not all. The majority are not like this. But some posters find it necessary to bash journalists and reviewers instead of actually blaming their beloved Nintendo for ANYTHING. They act like anyone who likes another console and/or tries to defend is not worth their time except for an offhanded insult or two. I've seen people predict ridiculous things (60 million Wiis by the end of 2008, 10 million lifetime for Wii Music) who don't even get a raised eyebrow when the predictions fall flat on their faces.

This has more to do with Nintendo fans than the Wii itself, but I felt like this was a good enough thread. I hate all of the fanboys, really. But because of Nintendo's success, Nintendo fanboys are often the most FULL OF THEMSELVES. And remember, I'm not saying all.

That's all fanboys, and you certainly already know it. When's the last time you saw an anti PS3 article go over well on this forum?

Just pointing out that the apathy seems to be localized to people like him, and that most of the populace is very exicited for the system
