It'd be hard to find many people good enough to follow Ensmble's quality now that they are shutting it down but I doubt it will stop them.

The Studio Formerly Known As Ensemble is going to be supporting the game post-release, so I guess there's always a chance they could develop the sequel, assuming sales are good enough to warrant one.

Too bad some of the major players in the studio are leaving and making their own new studio.... GG M$ on fucking over the best studio you had.

A second new studio? In addition to the one that's going to support Halo Wars?

No, they said fuck you back to M$ so I don't know what studio you are talking about, but this one won't be a M$ studio.

Wow, two M DOLLAR SIGNs in one sentence.

Anyway, no, this new studio isn't a Microsoft studio. The Ensemble guys who stayed with Microsoft are getting folded into Microsoft Game Studios, while the new, independent studio is the one that's supposed to carry on supporting Halo Wars. In light of that (and the "we're going to continue our relationship with them, etc. etc." stuff), it hasn't sounded like there's a lot of sour grapes, which has surprised me. I guess what I was asking is if you've heard anything to the contrary, like this bit about them saying "fuck you" to Microsoft.

I'm positive towards Halo Wars but I don't want it to get a sequel yet.

I want the former Ensemble guys to develop Age of Empires IV. For PC+X360.
And I hope they go back to the medieval times or the ancient era!

On one of the higher ups of Ensemble's blogs there was a post that definitely had angry undertones and a lot of sour feelings towards Microsoft so we will have to see how that goes. I could probably go dig up the blog entry if you wanna see it for yourself.

@vlad: That's okay. I checked the Ensemble blog, and I think I found the post you're talking about (this one, right?). This is the first I've heard of Newco by name, but from the description, it sounds like they could be the ones supporting Halo Wars.

See I think that Newco is the company that's split off while the people that stay behind in MGS will handle the rest of the game and whatever happens with it. At least that's how I'm reaidng it.

I keep reading that it's the new studio (for instance, in this interview), and that the new studio is supposed to have a post-independence Bungie-like relationship with Microsoft. Should be interesting to see how it all shakes out, though.
