X360 owners really love RPGs. RPG king confirmed. The genre is doing great, especially WRPGs.

I hope these great sales means new big budget attempts of new IPs are in the making. The low-budget titles such as Two Worlds and Gofic 1-3 (one of the Gofic games was supposed to come out on the X360 but I dunno what happened) haven't worked very well so far.

I'm pretty sure you mean the Gothic series.

1-3 wasn't supposed to, but Gothic 4 will release on Xbox 360 + the new game from the Gothic 1-3 devs is already confirmed (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Project-RPB-Gets-Official-Name-Risen-91550.shtml)

Oh, so simply "Risen" is the new name of Gofic?

And what is Gofic 4? Is it the same as the newly released Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods  that some people also call "Gofic 3.5".

1st thing: I'm pretty sure you want to drive me nuts, because you're always writing "gofic"

2nd: No

Long story. Piranha Bytes (Developer of the Gothic series) spilt up from their publisher JoWood, who unfortuantely helds the rights to Gothic 2, 3 and a sequel. A team hired by JoWood made the Gothic 3 Add-On "Forsaken Gods"

Now Piranha Bytes is working on "Risen" an new WRPG. Their new publisher will be Deep Silver.

JoWood hired a new team: Spellbound Entertainment which is supposed to work on the next Gothic game. They changed the name "Gothic 4: Arcania" to "Arcania – A Gothic Tale" (A dumb decision if you ask me)

Nice. but no one seems to like JRPG's anymore compared to this. :/

Maybe if Sony games would sell or if Microsoft would release decent, hyped RPG's, then they would. Honestly, way too many people are holding out for Final Fantasy XIII to save JRPG's, when they should really be buying quality JRPG's like Tales of Versperia or Valkyria Chronicles...But that's just me.

I find it amazing how many people on this forum constantly overestimate the sales importance of JRPGs outside of Japan.

JRPG sales have been pretty mediocre for years. This generation is really nothing new. Final Fantasy is the one obvious exception. Look at PS2 sales figures outside of Japan... and that is on a console with several times the userbase of either the 360 or PS3.

Thanks for explaining. An interesying story.

I hope with Risen they will aim for Oblivion-style once again - they have to make it work sometime.

Adding rise of the Argonauts should bring down the average considerably :P

Which is actually pretty sad -- it's a fantatic idea for an RPG with not enough budget behind it.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

Bethesda and Bioware games are guaranteed a million every time. They're the best

Whats so fantastic about Rise ov Argonauts? That it has "jump right in" action where your character is powerful right from the start of the game, or what?

The Witcher will outsell Oblivian

Well those games do deserve those sales Oblivion, Fallout 3 (bought it today! for PC), Mass Effect are masterpieces that have been developed by studios with loads of experience in RPG genre, so i am not suprised both betsheda and bioware have their following.

Shame that Black Isle are no longer around, they have produced some of the best RPG's in history.

Which RPG should 360 owners look out most for? Definately the Witcher (amazing Game on the PC, amazing story and amazing world) based on A. Sapkowski books, i hope it does sell well on the consoles (also because it's one of the best made in Poland things in last few years).

Thats why if regular XIII sucks and flops ima laugh and cry at the same time, to much dependence is on Regular (AKA Main) XIII's shoulders. :/

I'm sure you're not the only one. Honestly, there are a ton of people who are just waiting for the game to come out. Some might pick up WKC or SO4, but FFXIII is the main event for this generation when it comes to HD RPG's.

Funny thing -- most of the HD "main events" this generation haven't been HD at all.  Included in the games that aren't HD games are Halo 3 and GTA 4 PS3.

Agreed on The Witcher: great game and great source material. I plan to buy it again when the 360 version drops.
