Forums - Sony - Stop comparing Killzone 2 to Resistance 2 and LBP!

^These are all things I was thinking. Maybe you like the game. Maybe I like the game. Is the average Joe who sees an ad on TV with a sackperson in bright colours jumping around in a 2D environment going to think "I HAVE TO GET THIS!"?

Now, the same average Joe has a good chance of seeing an ad on TV with an FPS with incredible graphics where you take cover and shoot a bunch of aliens with glowing red eyes is going to find it appealing, right?

Joe = PS3 owner. Look at CoD4's sales, a multiplat, then look at the sales of any game which looks remotely "kiddy", exclusive. See the difference?

LBP is going to sell very well, the way it is going. Easily crack 3 million sales. But Killzone 2 will do more. I'm certain of it.

Perhaps I am being facetious but Viva Pinata performed well, probably selling more than R2 will at this rate. Ratchet and Clank and the old Jak games manged great sales. "Kiddie" graphics have little to do with the appeal of a game. I know the arguments against, but i think the Wii and its top selling games also prove the point. I am curious, if you think that K2 will do more than mil, how much? CoD4 has managed 4 mil on the Ps3. You really think K2, being released between Cod5 and 6, will out perform that? Hmm....

Ratchet and Clank managed great sales? 1.39 million copies sold LTD? It's one of my favourite games this gen, but I'd say it's sold pretty badly.

Of Course you should compare those games, they are Sony's exclusives , they are both shooters, i really do not see why people should stop comparing those games sales wise, R2 had huge amount of hype behind it (KZ2 has even more).

Alright, two can play at that game.

Halo Wars will flop because Universe at War on X360 flopped.

See how that makes no sense?

People, perhaps, will stop comparing them when people stop acting like KZ2 is going to magically save the ps3 from death.  I'm excited for KZ2, but I almost want it to fail.  I just want to see how the fanboys are going to justify the craptastic sales. I'm also wondering which game they're going to start telling us will kill the 360 next.  Well, even if it's awesome the sales still won't be that great.  I also think it's pretty funny that two of the systems supposedly biggest games (R2 and KZ2) are shooters.  Sony fanboys generally try to make 360 owners look like violent morons who only want to play shooters.

It happens on both sides, I know. But the negativity seems to be more prevalent, so that is what I am addressing.

Oh, and btw, GT5 is the X360 killer

I guess I wasn't overly clear with the message I was trying to get across.  I think the negativity is more prevalant with KZ2 because the fanboys are being so loud about the game.  Yes, i'm sure it will probably be a great game.  However, I can't imagine it's going to move all that many systems.  It's not going to sell as well as many people seem to be predicting.  The fanboys are, once again, deluding themselves.

GT5 will probably move more systems than KZ2 will.  That series has a pretty big fanbase.  I've always been more of a need for speed kinda guy though.  A little more arcadey, but within the realm of possibility.  The overly realistic (GT5) and the overly arcadey (midnight club 3) just don't appeal to me personally.

I don't believe God of War III, GT5, Heavy Rain, inFamous, FF Versus XIII and Uncharted 2 are shooters.

95% of great games are violent. There's no doubting that both the 360 and PS3 have large numbers of shooters. The 360 does have more great shooters, admittedly.

And R2 is not one of the PS3's biggest games. Why do people think this? Look at the sales, it took 7 weeks to get a million.

Every new game is compared to previous games that is how things go in the video game industry. We all like to know how it sells, review scores of new games and whether or not it has improved in regards to graphics/ game play in comparison to games released earlier.
