Throughout this entire year Nintendo has been getting nothing but the disillusioned gamer's badmouthing over some of its decisions and game releases. Personally, I could care less what people think. Actually, I encourage people to take time to rant on developers who they think are getting lazy or not providing the best experience. It unites gamers under one cause instead of cuthroat at each other over extreme loyalty. Through some of these rants we've changed Nintendo's PR. E3 to Fall Conference was a great example of our ability to move a company in our direction.
However, I don't accept this disrespect Nintendo has been getting. I can take the "I didn't like this game" or "I didn't like Nintendo's 2008 lineup" or "Nintendo released subpar games". All of those are worthy opinions and of course no one can deny some of them of having a little truth in it. But the nerve of some people to actually say "Nintendo doesn't care about it's loyal fanbase and core gamers". How dare you. That is not an opinion, but simply disrespect to one of the best developers out there. Not only is it not true but you should be ashamed that you'd even say it given Ninty's history.
Who cares if you didn't like the lineup or Mario Kart Wii and Animal Crossing: City Folk wasn't your favorite. You really can sit there and say they don't care about everyone because you didn't like something. This is the same company that released Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Animal Crossing: City Folk, and Wario Land: Shake It in the same year along with Endless Ocean, Wii Fit, Wii Music, and Mario Super Sluggers. The previous year they released Super Mario Galaxy, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Super Paper Mario, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption to just name a few. Not to mention they are ready to move Fatal Frame IV and Disaster: Day of Crisis to America along with new additions in the Punch Out and Sin and Punishment series. And they are releasing WiiMotionPlus next year with announced projects of Mario, Zelda, and Pikmin series. Even on top of all of that Nintendo has just rereleased Club Nintendo where they reward their core gamers for buying their products to get other products for FREE.
Yet, some of you have the nerve or the audacity to say they don't give a shit about the core gamers. It's not only wrong... it's disrespectful in so many ways. Nintendo has a reputation of being one of the best developers in gaming history if not the top dog. They release hit after hit after hit every single year unlike any other developer in existence. They take risks all the time to move the industry in new directions and expand it such that it continues. They create innovative new products to satisfy our gaming needs yet you still have the audacity to say they've lost touch with you. HOW DARE YOU. Anyone who has been saying they don't care about the core gamer and most importantly their loyal fanbase is simply not right. If you don't like what they provide that's fine but the problem is with you and not them.
Some of you get on these forums and think you can say whatever you want and think that just because its your opinion your safe. Every now and then, justice kicks in and you will seriously have to think about what you've actually posted. You can call Nintendo whatever you want, casual friendly, kid friendly, bad 2008 lineup, bad game company, money hungry company, ect. But you better not even dare to think that they don't care about the loyal fanbase that they built way back in 1983 and accumulated til now. And even more so you better not dare to think that they've lost touch with the core aspect of this industry because facts prove you wrong and their credibility proves you wrong.
Challenge them all the time like we all did at E3 2008 but make sure you keep it respectful to a company that has earned it more than any other. And jsut so we are clear, I fight for justice, not fanboyism. If someone wrote hatred against the playstation brand saying it's a faulty and worthless brand I'd write the same little article. My problem is with the lack of respect to some things simply becasue people are more concerned with themselves rather than justice. That's a problem in my book.
This thread is not here to offend anyone but simply give another view on this. I refrained from calling it a "mini other side" edition because it's not as extensive.
