 Yes 100k is a major dissapointment. But I am not going to argue about this until Famitsu's numbers are out. The real sales can be completely different from what this source claims.

The Last Remnant sold 105k on an install base 1/3 the size. I don't think 100k is disappointing, but it certainly isn't anything to brag about. Granted, that was in a week vs a day.

Hopefully the real numbers will be out soon.

Like you said, this is one day vs. a week. This game is reported to have been supply constrained and is having sellouts also. But I understand where you are coming from completely.

Still, I can't see a game becoming the best selling JRPG in the only market it is to be released in and be considered a dissapointment in any sense of the imagination.

Why shouldn't he be able to comment on these numbers??? He is just saying if these numbers are correct that it is a disappointment and I totally understand why he doesn't want to have discussion on what might be fake numbers.

Do you understand what you just said is an oxymoron? You say he should be able to comment on these numbers and then go on to say that he doesn't have to comment on these numbers.....that's whats this thread is for. This thread is about commenting on the article and the numbers included. If he doesn't want to comment on the numbers in this thread and would instead prefer to wait for actuals to actually comment and add anything to the thread then he should wait until those numbers are provided.

And if Im gonna hear another person state that 100.000 is a "MAJOR" disappointment then they're 'obviously' forgetting first day sales for other HD JRPGs released in Japan:

ToV - 70k + 10k bundles

IU - 70k

TLR - 79k

BD - 43k

LO - 40k

 

Dare I say... its bullshit in square root?

Level 5 is pretty popular right now in Japan. The layton series have made them a new break through name in the Japanese game industry.

Its pretty surprising to me that even though they dont as big name recognition as SE they have manage to completely obliterate first sales from SE' crown stable. I see SE as a brand in the game industry, and seeing a fairly less known company them at it is lol.

Even PS3 SRPGs have beaten most 360 JRPG LTDs sales in Japan for christ sake. And SPRGs are BARELY relevant on the market!
