I was talking about specific games with my comparison, not the actual systems themselves. N64 had games that are considered Legendary, and the leap from 2-d to 3-d was really something.
Wii has a chance to be remembered in the same light in terms of being a revolutionary advancement in gaming. In many ways it has already achieved this (playing Prime 3 with the Wii-mote solidified my confidence in this revolution) Even Wii sports, that game has already become what super mario bros was during the 80's.
Some games I feel were better on the 64, some of that could be the nostalgia of seeing Mario in 3-d for the first time, or Hyrule in 3-d. But some of it can be because those games were very special. OoT is the better than TP (imo), Mario 64 is better than Galaxy (imo). But both of those games expand upon the formula that was there and are great games on their own merit. But more importantly than that, the Wii is changing the way we play the game. Motion Controls is the new direction, much like how the d-pad was 'replaced' by the analogue stick.
But, hey, I remember when I was getting hyped for the new Zelda, after watching that tech demo at spaceworld, and then all of a sudden we got "cel-da" and I was VERY pist, but WW ended up being a wonderful game. I was glad TP went back to that art style (and hope it stays there) but my point is Nintendo has always moved to the beat of a different drummer, sometimes they give you what you want, sometimes they give you what they think is best. As frustrating as it can be at times, the bottomline is Nintendo is going to give you something, and 9/10 times they deliver. Of their big guns this gen? Brawl, Kart, Galaxy, Prime, and TP? That's 5/5 so far this gen.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
