This isn't a question about if it can reach 1-2 million. This is more of a question of how long will it take to get to 1-2 million.

This. =)
@Kyros, I guess I'm stupid for choosing to play WaW on the Wii?

I see.
I can't say I'm comfortable with using that. There are far too many discrepencies between NPD data and VGChartz data for this region and this month to use one to fill in the gaps for the other.
Yeah at the moment its at 10% of 360 sales, 18% of PS3 sales and 7% of HD console sales (which means that a PS360 owner is 15 times more likely to pick it up than a Wii owner)
Earth-shattering success. I am sure soon all major games will be developed first for the Wii and later ported to PS3 and 360. If people want to play FPS they get a PC, 360 or PS3. Not only are the graphics much much better, but the online support is as well, which is critical.
And no I don't want to bash the Wii, its winning a huge share of the market, its better for playing together in front of the same TV, its better for smaller and new gamers. But seriously get real. People are not stupid and will not choose a Wii for playing something like World at War. Simply doesn't fit.
I'm feeling pretty generous today, so I'll give you this one chance to point out where the person you quoted so much as implied that the Wii sells more of Call of Duty's type of game than the HD twins+PC.
I can wait.
As to your last sentence...it appears that hundreds of thousands already have...including this idiot.

You are right except you missed one major point, most did not think this game would even sell 500k, even the people who were optimistic were saying 750k would be nice. The game will only sell a fraction of what the HD versions do, and in this case, a port, with lesser graphics, less levels, or lesser online, that is very impressive.
I think this more than anything proves there is a market for core (mainstream core) on the Wii, not that the Wii is there hotspot, but their is a market. This is important for those of us who while we like COD:WAW HD (the one I own) we also like the choice to try something different. This also raises the chance that future COD games will get even better Wii treatment, and who know, maybe they will start to throw in a few Wii extra to take advantage of the controls.
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
@noname
Actually the softs were pretty good with the exception of a few games that are way off. Most of it is HD softs overtracked and a few Wii titles (I think brawl is about 50-100k over tracked)
But the amounts each number sold are about the same, I say it is safe to say that it sold at least 420k at number 19 in all of NA.

I think there most certainly is a hot spot for "Core games" (hate the word) on the Wii. Like you pointed out J, the game is a pretty gimped port (but as gimped ports go, its very good) So to be selling as well as it has, and who knows maybe better than we originally thought, that is really saying something.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

Except that between NPD numbers for October+November, and IGN's latest temper tantrum, we know that Wii Music (number 11) sold around 450k in the U.S. in December (according to the NPD), which is much less than the 761,321 VGChartz attributes to that position. And I find it tough to believe that the difference between #11 and #19 is less than 50k.
While I normally think this site's numbers are good enough (for the top 50 at least), it seems like December's a bit of a wreck, at least concerning the U.S.

I agree with you, but it is at least strange that the game is at 19th place for NPD and 112th place for VGC.
VGChartz have the sales of CoD: WaW (Wii) at 170k units, and besides we don't have the numbers for NPD, December is a hot month and surely it is at least double that number at 19th. So I think that NPD is overtracking it soooooooo much or VGC is undertracking it a lot!
Somebody would have to change their tracking methods, I hope that Activision comes and explain who's near the real numbers.
(If there's any error, sorry my english)
