I had fun with it. My thumbs hurt sometimes though.
I had the transfer pack, and Mario Tennis 64, so I could transfer my character to the N64 cartridge, and use him there, and anything he did in there got me experience points, which I could transfer back to the GBC cartridge. I found that cool (and helpful in training little "EZ").
Maybe you can ask him if you can give the game a try for like 10 minutes or something, and see if you like it?
I would save the money for a new game instead. My sister owns the cartridge and I used to play it, and I think it is just quite boring. The whole concept about a sports game mixed with an RPG is nice, but it ends up in just playing matches all the time which don't require you to do a lot, but they are just endlessly long, even more so when you have to play with a CPU partner.
The tennis itself is fine, but I just think that such games aren't working on a handheld since the multiplayer component is lacking, and this also makes it not really interesting to unlock anything.
So if you're into handheld sports games you should buy it, but if not I'd let it be.
i recommend that u look for the gba version. its much superior. anyway, its definetly not worth 15 bucks

GBA version added too much unneccsary stuff imo =/
But still, 15 bucks is kinda on the pricy side
The game is great, actually perhaps my favorite GBC game after Links Awakening DX. You should buy it, then you could sell it later, like in some years for a bit more haha, but that's just me.
If you have Mario Tennis 64 and a Transfer Pak, it's the one thing you can do to take that game to the next level, by unlocking another set of characters, as you can put two sets of player-characters on there, stats and all, and earn more EXP by clearing matches and tournaments and such
However, the guy who warned of sore thumbs is right. Play this one on the GBA with backwards combatibility, it'll kill your thumbs with tiny GBC layout
