I was leaning towards zack&wiki but you all make it sound too difficult for kids. :p Is it harder than those old adventure games on pc?
Also I am not getting them shovelware, I want to give a good game. :)

6-8 years old.
I suggest Boom Blox, you might even like it too!
Also, you might want to consider Carnival Games or Mario Strikers Charged. Which is a totally fun football sort of game!

@Cheebe, no problems, even i didn't know about the multiplayer mode until my nephew showed me, it is a single player game at heart though

If the age group really is 6-8, they will likely not enjoy Zack & Wiki nearly as much as a game with more action in it like Mario Strikers Charged or maybe even Mario and Sonic at the Olympics.
Also remember, it's going to be competiting with Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for play time. If it's not energetic or exciting to them by comparison, they will put it down fast.

Yes it is hard it looks like it is for kids but it is not, sure they can play it but they won’t get far.

I agree. Strikers has that competitive aspect, but still keeps that "anyone can play" feel to it. Easy to control, but lots of depth in the gameplay. It took me weeks to beat the game on hard mode, so it goes from super easy to quite challenging (with minor AI cheating)

Well ok.
Now there are some titles for me to consider, I might even get them 2 games if I happen to find some as discounted items. Thanks for everyone. :)

I think Z&W is a good choice. It's not really any harder than those classic puzzle adventures (it's a lot easier than some of them), and if they get stuck, there is a hint system.
But Boom Blox really is a good idea. Great multiplayer modes that you all could enjoy together. It is pricier than Z&W, though...
