Game suggestion?

If the age group really is 6-8, they will likely not enjoy Zack & Wiki nearly as much as a game with more action in it like Mario Strikers Charged or maybe even Mario and Sonic at the Olympics.

Also remember, it's going to be competiting with Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for play time.  If it's not energetic or exciting to them by comparison, they will put it down fast.

I agree. Strikers has that competitive aspect, but still keeps that "anyone can play" feel to it. Easy to control, but lots of depth in the gameplay. It took me weeks to beat the game on hard mode, so it goes from super easy to quite challenging (with minor AI cheating)
