If you finally turned on the connect 24, check out the plazza. You probably had a bunch of miis visit your wii now. (Assuming you have some friend codes in place).

So either: you have only recently turned it onto WFC24 OR you have fewer updates over there in New Zealand OR you somehow managed to update manually before Nintendo sent the message out (a gap of maybe an hour or 2 I think)

 

actually, living in australia and dealing with Nintendo of Aus late mails regarding any update, i've found that whether or not you update before they send a mail to you they'll send it anyways and at the bottom they'll write "if you've updated your wii since dd/mm, then you can ignore this message"
