Forums - Sales - How much of a boost would Wii give Resident Evil 5?

Well lately developers are taking the 360 version of a game and downsizing it to fit on the Wii, especially Capcom. So I wouldn't be shock to see a version of the game out by next Christmas for the Wii. I would bet on it.

I'm just saying...

2 million for xbox360 RE5 is madness...the game will sell over a million first week. more like 4-5

Wii version wouldn't fire out the gate as fast as the ps360 but would probably see good legs down the road.

Well, I was basing that on RE4's sales, but I suppose it did originally launch on a dead platform, while the rest were late ports...

I don't see why RE5 (RE4 HD) on the PS3 and 360 will massively outdo the PS2 and Gamecube versions.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

lol, i don't want to sound pretentious...but trust me on this.

Trying to explain it reasonably Id say... coming off a few dissapointing sequels RE4 didnt sell that well on the GC initially but since then the RE4 legend has grown...as it trully is a magnificent game. RE4 was game of the year in most magazines/sites, it was on 3 different platforms...all with amazing results. Most people that played the demo (not me however, i didnt like) went apeshit over it. Its more Gears of Evil than RE4HD

Consider the Xbox360 demographic here...and that a gmae like Army of 2 sold 1.5 million copies while being your generic coop shooter. Do you see a little better why RE5 will do really well on 360?

RE isn't a huge sales powerhouse, I doubt this will sell better than RE4 did in Japan, the bulk of its sales will def be in America. I've felt alot of ppl torn on this game. I haven't played the demo, but depending on who you ask its either very awesome or very meh. I guess that's with anything though. It'll suck having to go back to the dual analogue for this game, after playing the WIi edition of 4...its tough to go back. As for the OP though, I think it would help add another 2 million or so.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

@ disolitude It depends imo. If the only think that would be downgraded is the visuals, and other aspects similar to that, and it plays basically the same with all of the same content I could see the Wii version competing due to controls being impressive. If it is gimped then I would agree with you on the 1.5 million.

Id love the best of both worlds. Motion controls were very well done in RE4...but amazing visuals, good online party system, VOICE CHAT!!! :)...are things this game will need to be enjoyable.

Then RE5 would become just like any other online shooter. Resident Evil is ment ot be unique. Sadly the way RE5 is going it appears to be more suited for those mindless people who run around shooting each other online, instead of what RE shoudl be a survival horror game.

I hear ya and agree with you here. But have you played the demo? It is what it is...and we cant change that.  We old resident evil fans can either accept it and try to have fun with what it offers or become jaded.

RE4 didnt have those and it was still "enjoyable."

@11ht11

Again...you must play demo to understand what kind of a game this is. This is a Co-op game...as in you can't play alone. if you have no buddy to play with computer will control your partner...

Hmmm..... one thing, RE4 on GameCube, Wii, and PS2 looked roughly the same :S. That wouldn't be the case for a Wii RE5 when compared to a PS360 version. And lets not forget That it would release some time later. My guess would be Less than 1.5M tops for the Wii version.
