 It has taken off ala the Ipod (and DS). It is something everyone wants, regardless of whether they are really interested in it. We're in a time in which "people have everything" and it is a pretty easy thing to give someone.

 

I'm willing to bet that a lot the Wii sales are from people who have very little clue what the Wii even is.

 

It has become "cool" like the Ps2 did, but to an even bigger extent.

There is no fucking way that the PS2 could handle the graphics of games like Super Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3, specially at 60fps.
