Okay, first - why did I make this thread? I wrote this post: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=1583534 and thought this was very interesting.

NO Nintendo published games on the list, as there will be so man (DS alone destroys it), that it takes focus away from the rest.

The platforms are in () with the best selling to the left, worst selling to the right.

On to the list.

1.  GTA IV (X360 + Ps3) = 11.56M

2. CoD 4 (X360 + Ps3 + DS) = 10.78M

3.  Mario & Sonic (Wii + DS) = 9.92M

4. Guitar Hero 3 (X360 + Wii + Ps3) = 9.2M

5. Halo 3 = 8.68M

6. Assassin's Creed (X360 + Ps3) = 7.4M

7. Fifa 08 (Ps3 + X360 + PsP + DS + Wii) = 5.78M

8. Gears of War: 5.65M (X360)

9. Call of Duty: World At War (X360 + Ps3 + Wii): 5.21M

10. GTA: Liberty City stories (PsP) = 5.11M

11. Madden 08 (X360 + Ps3 + Wii + DS + PsP) = 4.97M

12. Pro Evo 08 (Ps3 + X360 + PsP + Wii + DS) = 4.4M

13. Forza 2 (X360): 4.24M

14. Cooking Mama (DS + Wii) = 4.15M

15. Rock Band (X360 + Wii + Ps3 = 4.08M

(Just for the reference, 9 Nintendo published DS games have broken 5M, and 11 have broken 4M. 7 Nintendo published Wii games have beaten 5M, and 8 have broken 4M).

Hopefully this is a bit interesting. And don't forget to point out games I've missed.

I'm going to give this thread another shot at survival...

Anyone think M&S (Wii + DS) could end up beating GTA IV?

I wrote this in another thread.

M&S Wii total = 9920K

GTA IV total: 11557K

Gap: 1637K

 

 

M&S Wii + DS last week = 232K

GTA IV (Ps3 + X360) last week: 141K

Gap: 91K

 

But of course, we're in the holidays - the gap usually isn't that big.

Estimated gap by the end of the year: 1400K

 

What can we expect the difference to be after on? Well, let's take the 2 months ending start of October (no holiday boost at all).

GTA IV total: 447K

Mario & Sonic total: 789K

Difference: 342K

 

Hmm... That's ~ 40K weekly. If it can maintain 25K weekly next year (which would be likely), it should be within 400K by the start of Q4.

 

Hot diggity! It has a chance! Heck, I'd say it should do it pretty easily, as M&S could easily sell more than 25K more (I find 35K more a lot more likely, which would mean it would be dead on equal to GTA IV by the end of Q3.

Lol, how could you forget the DS versions of Call Of Duty 4 & 5?

Also Madden 08 on the PSP sold 0.63mil.

what about ps2, and original xbx madden 08, thats a bit of units.

it is weird to see that the 360 has 3 on its won, then the little old psp has one... that really shows how much sony wanted the psp to be a software pusher.... if only the psp had a second nub, and less piracy... oh well cant wait for loco roco 2

I choose to not count the Ps2/XB/GC/GBA versions. I don't know if it is correct, but then some old titles which actually had more than half of its sales (over 2M/4M) would be on the list.

I do not count any versions on Ps2, or the previous generation machines.

Mario and Sonic surprises me, everything else seems normal. Not that M&S does not deserve to be on the list but that it is up so high and could beat GTA 4 which was called the game of the generation and all that mumbo jumbo.

I bet because of M&S we are getting so many Sonic games all over... Maybe they should hold on to some money.

GH3 sold better on Wii than Xbox 360.
