Oh, so it's my fault that a saying that had nothing to do with sales is being used for sales.
Fail. |
I'm sorry. I must have missed the asterik that followed "LBP will be huge" that mentions it was only meant to mean fun factor and not sales figures. My bad. It's not like we're on a sales site where these things could be misconstrued that way.
However, I know enough to give a quick check, and lo and behold, you have used it in a way to describe sales before. I bring you to October 19th. The thread is called "LBP v Wii Music The Creative Wars. It's in the Sales Discussion. Everyone was asked which would sell more. Your answer was...
"LBP is HUGE
Therefore, it will sell more."
Any questions?

I actually made a whole thread about "LBP Will be Huge", which went into great detail as to why it is not there to quantify sales. It also went into what thread and context it was first used in, and why I kept on saying it.
This thread was at the height of "LBP will be huge" hype, and that was sarcasm to the nth degree. The Wii series of games have sold astoundingly well. You'd have to be an idiot to believe LBP would outsell it. If I said LBP will be huge in every thread, obviously a smart person would take that with a grain of salt, and you can see that no one replied to it, cause it was obviously sarcasm.
It's nice to have my own stalker on this site though. I look forward to continuing this convo.

The fact that you felt you needed to explain yourself post-release about the meaning of the phrase should be proof enough you felt this was getting out of hand and you were to blame for it. Otherwise why explain yourself at all?
What I don't get is how you can't see so much of this over-hype was your fault. Let's just look at the phrase you chose to pick up "LBP will be HUGE!!!". Since when does the word huge have anything to do with the quality of the software? Go ahead and try to make a sentence using it that way. It doesn't work. You could have said "great, excellent, spectacular, epic, etc." and any of those would have appropriately fit into the context that your phrase was meant to refer to quality and not quantity. In fact it's definite that had you used an appropriate word, no one would have confused your phrase at all with meaning sales. You decide to use a word that in the world of videogames goes hand in hand with how much is sold. It means big. A good game is not big. A good selling game is big.
Friend: Hey, that Little Big Planet game looks interesting. Is it any good?
Onyxmeth: Absolutely. LBP is huge!
Friend: Huh? What the fuck are you talking about? I asked you if it's good.
Onyxmeth: And I answered you. I said it's huge.
Friend: You're an idiot. You're not making sense. I'm just going to watch an IGN video review jackass.
Almost every time you or anyone else used the phrase, it never had any context, or as I previously said, any asterik with an explanation attached. It happened to pop up plenty of times in the Sales Discussion, not always by you of course. Anyone just seeing it would automatically assume it meant sales, not that you all fail at conveying your points properly.
Instead of the whining about everyone not seeing this as a success, how about just sending every depressed Sony fan on here a quick apology PM? Intentional or not, this was your mess.
About my previous post, let's just dead that. You say it was just sarcasm then it's just sarcasm. I won't beat you over the head about it.
Also this isn't stalking. I'm still waiting for my Google Earth pictures to print. Then it'll be stalking.
