Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who's the best tomb raider? Lara or Nathan?

Tomb Raider has become a stagnant franchise these days. It's a game living off brand recognition built from old glories.

Uncharted is just much, much better. It's set a new high standard for the action adventure gaming genre.

As for characters; Naughty Dog sucessfully made Drake a believable character, he's truly a likeable fellow. In comparison, I used to make Lara Croft jump off exceptionally high platforms and watch as she fell hundreds of feet to a horrible bone shattering death, purely for entertainment.

My point being, I felt no empathy or connection with Lara Croft. Not that I would cry if Nathan fell to his death in a similar manner, but I had more respect for him.

I think Naughty Dog have developed a more robust, interesting character in Nathan with one game, then the entire Tomb Raider franchise has with Lara.

Now if you're asking which character is easier on the eyes?

Well, I think we all know the answer to that.

Have people forgotten already that the first Tomb Raiders were actually very decent games?

Drake is more an action guy even if it is has good sections of climbing, jumps and exploration. Puzzles are more complex in Tomb Raider games but Uncharted is overall a lot better. Maybe Lara could join Drake.

Play my LittleBigPlanet level: Mystic Runner. Thanks!

For when the first Tomb Raider came out, it was one of the best games at that time. Unfortunately, the series has dropped off a bit since. Nathan Drake has only had one game. I think that we shouldn't compare the two at this time. Lara Croft is a much better character. *wink*

yea it was. i remember i saw my cousin playing tomb raider, i wanted it so badly. but didn't have the $ at the time cause i was like 6. the last tomb raider game i played was the last revelation and that game was terrible in my opinion.

your right, even though uncharted is awesome and better structure, we shouldn't compare the games yet cause uncharted only has one game

The last three Tomb Raiders were good too! Underworld didn't live up to it's potential, though.

That's a good point and I fully agree.

I always hated TR games but Uncharted was great.

Tomb Raider was always a fun game, but Lara Croft was never developed as a character.

She was basically just supposed to be eye candy, and nothing more.

It's very easy to make a game with a hot girl kinda fun, cause the girl is hot. It's harder to make a game with a guy fun, cause it has to actually be fun. Uncharted is just a better game while Tomb Raider is stagnant.

Again you are comparing the new games to the old. Did you even play Tomb Raider back when it was a brand new IP? That game was great back then.

Yes, I loved Tomb Raider 2.  One of my favorite PS1 games.
