Without a doubt. It will be about 1.5M. FFX released on the PS2 in Japan with a userbase of 5M. It sold 1.9M first week. An attach rate of 38%. Assuming FFXIII has the same attach rate and the PS3 userbase is 3.5M, then FFXIII will do 1.33M first week. So I would say 1.33M is an absolute minimum.

All the non-remakes of Dragon Quest on the DS are considered spin-offs and yet do not include any old characters to my knowledge. This is not like any other "spin off" then, not yet seen a spin off with production values the same or some might say larger then the flag ship game.

If PS2/PS1 attach rates applied if it released right now - 1 million will be fine. I wouldn't be surprised with around 50% attach rate for PS3 when it releases. Remember - when talking about Japan
