Forums - Nintendo - IGN's Wii Game of the Year award goes to....a wiiware title.

Honestly, this is a insult for the Wii. World of Goo is a little game that can be downloaded. He could be good , but he will never deserve the title of best game of the year.

SSBB is by far the best game of the year on Wii. This is not even debatable. No doubt about it. IGN is delusional and can not be took for serious anymore.

I have this on PC. It's a good little puzzle game... but GOTY? Jeez, 2008 wasn't THAT bad for Wii was it?

Nope, it wasn't bad at all. You may have noticed game sales 11.2, MK Wii. What's too bad is that all the gaming sites are showing their petty side and thinking that making the GOY competition a way to strike back at this devil's spawn with weird controls and games that only sell to those 40,000,000 kiddies and grannies, will somehow stop this slide into irrelevance.

The attitude is like those naïve people that run around crying “we’re destroying the planet. The planet is doomed.”

“No,” I reassure them, “the planet will survive. The planet will just do fine…….. you’ll all be dead of course; human’s will be extinct, but the planet will be fine.”

I love you Grampy.

I'm not sure why you consider a good downloadable game any less impressive than a full disc game.  Look at Braid on the 360, it was one of the best games on the 360 this year and it is a downloadable game made by two people.

Just becase a game is a smaller scale doesn't make it worse than a large scale game.

What?!

My question is why do these "professionals" continue to disrespect Mario Kart Wii? It is the best Mario Kart by far, and has at least double the content that previous Mario Karts had.

Frankly, World of Goo is awesome and this is in no way bad.

There's a lot of crying going on in this thread.

Brawl is a great game, but I prefer Goo. It's a shame a few of these Brawl lovers don't pay up a few notes to buy Goo and find out for themselves. It would certainly help sales of the game. Sales it deserves.

I just got this game from my secret Santa on this site! Awesome!! I gotta go to work, but when I get home I'm deleting Starfox 64 and firing up this bad boy.

Wii Game of the Year

World of Goo
Guitar Hero World Tour
de Blob
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
Super Smash Bros. Brawl

To have Guitar Hero World Tour in there instead of Mario Kart Wii is just embarrassing for the small amount of credibility that IGN has left.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 revolutionized the way soccer games are played, so I can understand its inclusion. However, I would have replaced it with No More Heroes.

Well yes the shafting of Mario Kart Wii is shameful, but it is to be expected if they want to be consistent in keeping with their review scores.

This does not take away from World of Goo, however.
