You think over 100 Million people are gonna buy PS3 because of brand loyalty!?!? Well do you know that the Wii isn't gonna sell because it's a nintendo system. But come on, once it get's two price cuts, it will be late 2008/early 2009 and the sales gap will be FAR too large for the PS3 to come back to win the war. Wii is NOT a fad, even if it sales start to decline, the effect christmas will have on the Wii will shoot it right back up and it will sell well into 2008. If price is truly the culprit for the PS3 then Sony is screwed

To be honest, the graph proves a point leo-j may or may not be trying to make.

Last generation, the make-or-break point for both the PS2 and GCN were about 9 months after launch. This is crunch time for the PS3. If it doesn't pull it off before the end of the year, historic data suggests it's going to flop.

The price is what holds down the ps3 from selling ps2 numbers. We see a $399.99 or $349.99 80gb ps3 or 40gb ps3, it will outsell anything out there but maybe not the wii. I never said the wii is a fad. "If" we see the ps3 near 10million units this christmas it has a chance to surpass nintendo's console. The $399.99 is the ps3's sweet spot for rocket high sales.

Also I expect the price to drop in march, psp dropped to $169.99 in march ps2 dropped to $299.99 in march, and ps1 dropped in price as well in the same month. Like I said history repeats itself. If ps3 were to rocket up in sales higher than the wii, it needs ALOT OF GOOD 3RD PARTY EXCLUSIVES, and AAA EXCLUSIVE TITLES. Why do you think every sony fan praises killzone 2? It has a chance of being the 4 x A EXCLUSIVE, and best shooter yet.

Or Sega Saturn. Or Atari. Or heck, how about Sony's walkman? There's a monopoly that got completely demolished, and it profoundly hurt Sony's bottom line a few years back. 

 so if we dont see the ps3 near 10 million (which by the way aint gunna happen) are you going to admit that it has no chance of coming first?

 Or the Dreamcast.

Since the PS3 has much more strength in Japan (compared to the 360 anyways) it's almost a given that it will lead to the PS3's WW total surpassing the 360's eventually. I can't see it happening until 2009 at the earliest though because I think the gap is going to actually start increasing again with the 360 outselling the PS3 in North America in 2007 starting from the third week in August.

I think it'll be outselling it to such an extent that the PS3's sales over the 360 in Japan and it's slight sales over it in Europe won't be able to cover what it's losing in North America. So starting sometime in 2008 the PS3 will not only have to outsell the 360 but will likely have to outsell it by an additional 7-8 million consoles to catch up.

This is all assuming that the PS3 doesn't fall into the console trap of poor sales/poor third party support. Considering the engines by Epic and id though that it probably unlikely to happen since it can hang onto the PC/360's coat-tails while it's userbase grows.

hmm agreed that there isnt any dates for the games but they are coming in 08 even if its november 08 which i doubth but still its next year the point is i asked if u can come up with any i mean literally ANY 360 future  killer app games for 08, 09 whatever........thas my point that there isn't any and yes even though 360 will match the price drope but at the end we need to agree which ever system has the best software lineup will last longer and sell well so again unless u can dig up some names for 360 that 65% 360 chance i really dont know where they are coming from..........................
