Forums - Sales - PS3 sales fall 40% this week, things returning to normal?

Sadly, Heavenly Sword won't sell much in Japan but a much crappier game of the same genre (anything with the word musou in it) will.

Don't ask me why. Just look at God of War sales in Japan compared to Musou sales.

God of war is completely different from heavenly sword, I think it WILL increase sales and well probably sell good in japan maybe 300k. How do I know? Arent they advertising that game like krazy over there? If not, then I just think it will sell well. It just looks like a game the japanese will enjoy.

Dreamscast, must you make a Digg link for every thread you start? Seriously, there's no need for so many Digg articles...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Yo wouldnt heavenly sword boost sales? Also, last week they were at 110k now they are at 95k WW, its still selling good, just like the wii 4 weeks dropping still selling over 200k.

July 15: 266,127

July 22: 246,851

July 29: 239,027

Aug. 5: 224,511

Green for increases, red for decreases.

Man Leo, you really do live in your own little world.

To be fair, leo-J's analogy fits quite well actually.  Both the PS3 and Wii recently had weeks well above the normal and are now settling back down into the prior trends.  And while the Wii's increase over the normal was larger, it also means that it is harder to sustain and more likely to quickly return to normal.

Leo-j's data was definitely missleading out of context, but the analogy was still valid.

 1. The bolded part is what I'm specifcally objecting to.

 2. You are technically correct, but the problem is that Leo doesn't give the context, or seem to be aware of it.   He only distinguishes spikes from trends when it suits the picutre he's trying to paint.

technically Leo- J was saying the Wii was decreasing which is what desroko's data shows, but he never said it had gone below 200k.

Hey, it wasn't a 50% loss, so while everyone would have loved to see it stay higher for another week or so, it did continue to boost interest. And what Leo-J said shockingly wasn't wrong. Over the past 4 weeks, WW sales of the Wii have dropped, yet still remain over 200k. Just, not sure what he was going for.

God of War is different from Heavenly Sword, this is true, but that's not the perception. Before anyone touched the demo, all anyone ever said was "Goddess of War". Another game that might point you towards its sales performance in Japan is Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Heavenly Sword's best areas will be NA and EU. Japan has ... different tastes.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is much less accessible than Heavenly Sword though and God of War for that matter so I can't say I'm too surprised at the sales of this game that is a remake of a game already remade once before and is way too hard for an average player even.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

It still look like God of War but with a more complex combat system, she even have almost the same weapons !!!! Two blades with chains and a big blade just like Artemis's Sword in God of War !!!!

Gamertag : Dark Red Icarus

Gamerscore : 29000!!!! still growing

PSN ID : Gamer9851

Now Playing : Soul Calibur 4 and World of Warcraft

the thing is Heavenly Sword is closer to the Dynasty Warriors games then GoW and NGS is. You are attacked by more enemies at once. Even GoW has less enemies attacking you in the biggest battle senses then Heavenly Sword has. I think it will at least be way more successful then NGS was in Japan.
