Famitsu reviews are rarely very negative in what they say about the game, probably out of respect to the companies that pay them for advertisements. In fact, the review text almost never has any substance worth mentioning.

Some of the worst things they will say would be something like, "The game does a good job capturing the feeling of the Harry Potter world, but the performance could have been a little better and the gameplay might feel a bit monotonousness for some players after a while." Translation in western terms: "Well the characters look like actor counterparts and the Harry Potter music is used, but this is one of the most boring and tedious pieces of crap games ever made. The framerate is total ass and makes this abomination just that much more unplayable."

 

 

 Yeah i've heard great things about Valkyria Chronicles but can't seem to find a copy anywhere here in Missouri.  I'll keep a look out though cause i've heard nothing but positive stuff about that

i'm not smoking anything and i'm not saying your a fanboy or anything but i do see you in forumns alot defending sony games and all i'm saying is everyone has their own opinion.  calling out fernando and me for having a perspective doesn't mean we are overexagerating.  we are simply stating those are dissapointing scores from Famitsu

 

 thats the problem with you. You are looking at the scores and not the words. I bet if Level cut out anytype of online it would scorehigher based on the SP itself.

Most of the time, the games I review - after I write them up and post them and/or they appear in the paper, I usually go to ign.com, gamespot or other sites to see what others are saying. Most times, they aren't too far off from my view. Since that's the case, I usually can trust the reviews.

Here is another post of the translation I made off the Famitsu scans.  Give them a read before passing judgement.

First guy: The White Knight Keren and the enemy Boss' powers are good. The offline play is well balanced and can be played without having to strain oneself, but there are several little annoying aspects of the game play. The online play where you can talk and adventure with a friends in realtime could use an auto battle and auto run system. Its difficult to chat while running around or fighting.

Second guy: Being able to make your own combos, change your AC, and developing individual skills through battle is fun. The large enemies in the game are amazingly powerful. The online chat is difficult to do but they set up the online like a social networking site (SNS) and there seems to be the possibility for large network communication.

third guy: The fight scenes with the large monsters in the beautiful game world are powerfully intense. The main story and cut scenes are easy to follow. Because you can use mail or the journal as soon as you log online it should be easy to communicate with others. Its okay that the battle system is simple but it tends to be dull. Its good that weapon/armor compatibility and strengthening can be done easily.

fourth guy: The battle system as promised is uncomplicated with its several aspects so it is easy to get into. Combining the different skills is fun. But I would have liked for the menus and battle commands to be more polished. The online play depending on the version... (cant read last part, sorry)

True you make a good point.  Maybe i am looking at the overall score too much.  I personally was just a little shocked to see something that low for what looked like an incredible RPG to me.  Especially considering how highly they scored TLR

True you make a good point.  Maybe i am looking at the overall score too much.  I personally was just a little shocked to see something that low for what looked like an incredible RPG to me.  Especially considering how highly they scored TLR

 

 

 Thats why I hate scores. I think all reviews should be text based. I mean think about it. If Warhawk had a mediocre SP campiagn I bet the game would get very low scores even though it does excellent on the multiplayer aspect and that was the goal from the begining. Even though there would be more content it would score lower even though it would be the same exact multiplayer... why is that?
