Forums - Sony Discussion - Is Playstation network now better than the Xbox live?

No doubt about it, Live mops the floor with PSN. The Party system, Netflix, the ability to talk in every game, the ease of use all make it the better platform. PSN has came a long way since it started but it still isn't up to par yet. And home only adds to the wait untils that are already hurting the PS3. Wait until you can do something in home!! I may give Home another try in 6 months, but my hopes are gone.

To be honest HOME was probably the biggest single reason other than Blu-ray that I purchased a PS3. (IMO) Home thus far has failed in so many aspects. It really is dis-appointing that it has taken them so long to come out with something so bland. Maybe in a few more years it will be actually worth something but as it sits right now, it is all but useless.

Why is every frigging game in the place always taken? I mean how hard would it be to make more than enough spots everyone to shoot some pool or bowl? Do they have to pay extra licensing fees or something? Yes it does look nice on the outside, but if I could get more functionality out of it I could deal with everyone looking like Wii avatars.

Right now Home is in fact an embarrassment.  It was rushed out the door very quickly (well, very early) and now the vast majority of people that don't have fanboy blinders on think it's crap.  True, it has potential but they've already let everyone play the bad so there's little incentive to come back for the good.

Why do people presume an half-baked idea that no one knows how to implement, which was delayed awhile, and apparently doesn't show any compelling reason to be around at the moment, was "rushed out the door very quickly"?  Home was announced too soon, and not coded properly.  Give it another 5 years without being up, and it would still not be ready.  Sony's hope for Home is enough people hang on that companies will produce content for it.

Again, I think "rushed out the door" is a poor description for Home.  Announced too soon, to the extent that Microsoft was able to produce a counter to it is one thing.  But the thing wasn't rushed.

By rushed out the door I mean released before it was ready to fit in with a deadline.  Home is exactly that.

No home is just another thing I got for free as a reward for going with PS3 over 360. I'll just add that to my bag of goodies, let's see what we have in here: wi-fi adapter, bluray player, free online gaming, battery packs recharging oh and look! Home!

You mean your reward for spending the extra money up front?  For my reward of spending less, I got Netflix HD, better online, more content, and up to 3 years of XBL and STILL be less than the cost of the PS3... hmmmm....  I'll feel bad when everyone has to get their PS3 controllers replaced because the internal battery stops holding the charge.  It's inevitable. Me on the other hand, I just use 2 pair of rechargable batteries for $9.

The problem with Sony fanboys is they don't realize that it's suicide to have PSN have as much as it does without payment. It's suicide for Sony. The saddest way for Sony to make some profit off of home is to make you pay for certain shirts and pants, when home should come with a fee.

I managed to have a lot of fun with Home, but it totally depends on who's on at the time. Trying to make the world's longest dance line, getting everyone to run 50 laps around the pool, and trying to "pimp" two girls who were away from their avatars, and standing side by side (I drew quite a crowd, and I definitely was ready to entertain them!).

The downside is that, even though it's just a free bonus, it really is just a glorified chat room. And since the PS3 actually HAS an internet browser, more often than not, I end up just going online to Gametrailers or some random porn site. It's usually more rewarding to use the browser than to try to entertain random strangers.

I still enjoy logging into Home but I hope it evolves into much more.

Random porn sites are the best sites.

I own both systems, and no, PSN isn't better than Xbox Live.

NXE is far more useful.

Imo, PSN is way behind Xbox Live.

  • Bland design.
  • No voice chat.
  • No party mode.
  • Home is useless and boring.
  • Life with Playstation, tried one time... enough.
  • Internet Browser, pain in the ass.
  • Trophies are not as addictive as Achievements.
  • Total online integration is nowhere near Xbox Live (Avatars in dashboard, Live Messenger, Windows Media Center)
  • No demos available for EVERY PSN game (XBLA does).
  • XBLA collection is A LOT BIGGER than PSN library.
  • No Netflix support.
  • No Community games (btw, you gotta try BLOW, awesome game!).
  • No PS1 or PS2 titles available trough PSN (Xbox originals available on Xbox Live).

I would pay 100$ each year for Xbox Live. 4$ per month is nothing.

Online service = Microsoft.
Blu-Ray Player = Sony.

That's how it works at home.

but the PSN have voice chat not only voice chat but you can use a webcam >_>

What?
PSN has only XMB voice chat.
In Xbox Live, you can play any game and chat with your friends at the same time (Even if you're doing different things).

Use a Webcam? Xbox Live baby.

Xbox Live Vision:

There is nothing stellar in PSN.
Free stuff for cheap people.
That's my opinion.

If it sucked I would say it sucked, maybe you just need to get some friends, because its obvious you have none on PSN(no offense).

Facebook may be a one of the few online communities to show how many friends you have, PSN not so much, in fact if that's what you thought I'd tell you to get a life.

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

for those that got all hot about home i only have this to post

i have live and i enjoy it, i dont mind paying for it b/c it has gotten me some great services that PSN cant offer

such as netflix (which rocks so hard my eyes bleed-that or i have been playing ninja bread man to much)
