Forums - Sales - Why the heck do people group the Game Boy line together for sales???

Therefore, the PSP should be separated from the PSP Slim and the PSP 3000?

Because the Slim has 64MB of RAM instead of 32MB, and the 3000 has a microphone.

O-D-C

so DSi is a new DS?

PSP 3000 is a new PSP?

N64+expansion pack= different console..?

what about the different SKUs from the PS3 and 360

what you're doing is nitpicking..

obviously some games weren't playable on GB..but most were..
GBC is just a new model..colors!! mostly 1 or 2...colors at a time on screen

don't tell me that's a new handheld..please...that's BS

it's like saying Micro is a new GB, because of the brighter light settings as well as the smaller size!!

>_>

colors don't mean crap...untill it gets to GBA where something really changed..

the GBC didn't change anything besides adding some color to GB games..

sorry...no can do.

DSi games won't be playable on the DS...but alot of universal DS games will be
it doesn't mean they are seperate consoles?

how about PSP3000?

mic? so some PSP3000 games won't play on the other models..
seperate too?

It's because of the GBC spec that I think this console should be tracked separatly but because the GBC simply had specific games unlike the psp, psp2k and psp3k.

Game boy Colour was a new system that played a new type of game that would not play on a Previously released Gameboy.

That makes it pretty clear that they are two different systems.

That is all

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

The increased spec was necessary to handle the color display.

Exclusive games happen on many newer model consoles but that does not make them a new product. DSi will have exclusive titles, PSP3000 will either have exclusive titles or reduced features on older models, there were a few exclusive expansion pack N64 games (including a Zelda title), Same with the Saturn expansion pack, etc....

EDIT:

I don't get it.  Do you most of you not read the whole thread or ignore those that are providing facts?   The GBC is a new model of the Gameboy.  Unless somehow the entire industry has been wrong all these years, you guys are ones that are incorrect though given this, I haven't seena  single one of you accept that.  You just continue to poitn out the same invalid arguments like they are going to change things just for you.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Well you bring the "it's always been like that" argument. And comparing the expansion pack to the GBC is pretty stupid IMO, it's just like comparing that with the eye toy or the balance board Oo

@Tremble

and that's exactly what you should be doing..
all it did was add another function

as if buying a Wii+Wiifit bundle instead of Wii+Wiisports

you get different hardware..play most of the same games..except a few

it's not that hard to phatom...but in 10 years people will be arguing about the DS and why DSi is in the same chart as DS

>_>

Stof is the Sega CD a new system? I mean you can't play Sonic CD on the Genesis without it or the 32X games games for that matter without the 32X. Yet they aren't counted as system sales.

How about the RAM expansion and perfect dark, DKC and a handful of others.

A lot of GBC games were able to be played on the original GB a few weren't. The DS and DSi are gonna have this problem the PS2 PS2slim had some of this problem. Some media wouldn't play on the first generation PS2s anyone who has one rememebrs looking for silver and blueback discs because some games didn't play on the -0001 series PS2 are they different systems?

I would say the question is is what market share developers looked at when developing for those systems and from what i have read many looked at the marketshare as whole which is why it is counted together. So they were GB games with enhancements that could only be unlocked in GBC but some made only GBC games by CHOICE because they wanted to go full hog or they were lazy about programming and didn't care about marketshare.

Gameboy Color has double processing power, double ram and games that could not be played on conventional GB's. I think that qualifies it as a separate system, otherwise we would but Wii and GC sales together.

That stuff is required in order to run a color image. A black and White game boy only need to know on or off for 160x144pixels Roughly 3 Kbytes for the video alone. Where the GBC needed to support 56 colors which means it takes more Memory to achieve the same image. The most common GBC game only used 32 colors and they were backwards compatable. It also means more data streaming through the CPU

The extra power did not go into any thing new.

GB and GBC both could only display only 40 sprites. in an 8x8 or 8x16 size. Sound and buttons were exactly the same on these systems.

PSP-3000 has more RAM different hardware. PS2 slim has a different mobo, DSi has internal storage,  HW changes the whole time what matters is what the developers make the games for and you show me a system that will play its next gen coutnerparts games and we will talk.
