@Kingslayer, and the discussion in general,

The Wii really should not impact a discussion about Halo 3's ability to sell consoles. But this is not the thread for this discussion honestly.

PS - Kingslayer, you have no need to point out that you're giving the Wii credit. So long as you stay objective and aren't rude or crude with your comments nobody should give you a hard time, although they might disagree and debate you on it =). Its when people say things blatantly false or just try to incite flaming in general that they get into trouble and are banned. The trouble is fanboys often rationalize it by saying it was their opinion that got them banned when really its their tact..or lack thereof....Good debate no matter how far out your opinion is, is always welcome., just be prepared to defend your thoughts!

The 360 will struggle to match the Wiis weekly sales (in the US OR worldwide) - EVER. Maybe 1, or 2 weeks (Halo release week, maybe price drop week). The Wii will outsell it for every other week.

PS - Wii will overtake 360 in 2 weeks - not 1. Maybe 3 if the 360 price cut has a significant effect.

Congrats to the Wii!! Nintendo deserved that success for giving us quality systems and games for so long. In 3 weeks Wii is taking first place too!

I don't think so, Nintendo dominated the handheld console market for over a decade! Personally I didn't like the original DS design, but I bought one for me and one for my girlfriend as soon as the Lite version was released.

Also personally I thought the Nintendo Wii would become a much bigger success as the Nintendo GameCube was. However I also stated that in due time I thought the PS3 may very well end up on top.

Sure, agreed. But when I say everyone - I don't mean Ninty fans ;) Anyone who bought a GC & 20 games (like myself) should be excluded.

The DS has completely changed the face of game development - and has dominated the last 3 (4?) years. Remember the initial media reaction, comments from Sony (etc..), "fad", PSP will dominate, etc.

The reason the Wii is doing a lot better than the DS did initially, is that people now have faith in Ninty again - after the DS, anything they design turns to gold.

On topic: This is an important milestone for any console, and getting here this quick is a pretty big achievement, makes me wonder how long until some other console comes along and breaks the record. Any guesses on how many months until it passes its next 10 million mark?

Put me down for 5.5 months.

Awesome! It's been WAY too long since a Nintendo home console won a generation [yes, I'm going out on a limb and saying the Wii WILL WIN when all is said and done].

The second thing is that a new Mario is coming the autumm, so if we place it in the same catagory as H3 what is the unique thing?
