it is foolish to say gt5 will not outsell forza 3. forza is a little poodle in gran turismo's yard.

and no, gran turismo will outsell the prologue in one DAY.

on topic: heavy rain will underperform. it is aimed at an audience that A.) doesn't necessarily want to play that kind of game, and B.) isn't the biggest market. it won't attract any other gamers aside from their specific niche.

If the hype is strong enough it might even make it day 1. People really underestimate the size of the GT franchise.

It did. 300k in its first 2 npd months (not in the top-10 in either of them) before disappearing quickly and it didn't reach the top-10 of any european chart. That's a flop in my book and no ammount of weird numbers will change that.

Seriously, it's unfair to call a game "Flop" when it's already in a niche genre.

Is ICO a flop? Is No More Hero a flop? Is Okami a flop??


I really don't care if a game doesn't appeal to everyone, as long as you like it and the game delivers quality. that's all that matters.

I still don't understand why people think God of War is such a huge franchise, when it wasn't a top selling game on the PS2. It seems to have a very loyal fanbase, and those people will buy it. But outside of that fanbase, it doesn't sell all that well. I expect it to sell much like MGS4, to the existing fanbase.
