Nah. I just think they forgot about poor Activision entirely that, or the preview data they had when they were drafting their statement broke up GH:WT's sales by SKU. This would bump it much farther down (4-SKUs), and might explain why they moved Wii Music up a spot).

Edit: Beaten like a Niners fan at a Raider's home game!

Console companies make money from Software, Sony cant ignore all that money anymore. They have to go deserpate and cut the price by $100. After that if numbers remain the way they are then Sony need to settle for third place and make profit.

Not all of them, Nintendo makes bank for every Wii, and I'm fairly certain MS is in the black with the 360.  Dropping a desperate price cut could help them, but it could also break them.  If I were a Sony exec I'd play it safe and try to stay the course.

If I was a Sony exec I would drop the price by $100 before Killzone 2 releases. That game with the PS3 at $300 is going to sell great and no, I never thought R2, LBP, Motorstorm 2 would sell well.

My belief is that Killzone 2, GT5, GOW 3 and Uncharted 2 will sell well and stick by that, Sony can make huge software sales with those games. What I am pretty 1000000000% sure of is that the price of the PS3 in Japan will be dropping very very soon, some huge games coming out there.

So Wii's jump in NA is equivalent to the X360's jump in Europe..Interesting.

I think what's helped the Wii in NA is that the Wii isn't doing as hot as it was in Japan - so all the shipments are coming to US shores instead of Japan.

 I'd love to see a price cut, but I don't see any way sony can do that with it's current situation. I hope I'm wrong and that you are right, but I doubt it.

wow the PS3 did worse this year than last year. wow! Go 360...wake up sony jeez and the Wii OMG! i hate you:P

I want to point this out from the NPD report microsoft:

"With $298 million in third-party game sales in November, the Xbox 360 has generated more revenue at retail for third-party publishers than the PS3 and Wii combined this generation. (November NPD data)"

and the 360 attach rate is 8.1 that's beastly.

and this is the PS3 this year compared to last year:

Nov. 2007 / Nov 2008 = Differential
Playstation 3: 466K / 378K = -88K
