Forums - Gaming Discussion - where are the Japanese RPGs for PS3?

You can't really call a console "the definitive JRPG console" if it's lacking a main FF installment.

Agreed. The Wii owners get one Big JRPG and they "Assume" they'll get all the rest. tsk, tsk...

There's almost no point in putting any RPGs on the PS3. It's struggling to sell, Microsoft is writing checks for established franchises, and everything else is going to the Wii because it's the dominate console. With the revelation of DQ X, the Wii has become the definitive JRPG console and like so many times Dragon Quest is the catalyst to the shift in support, meaning if SE is putting their staple RPG franchise on the Wii over the 360 and the PS3, RPG developers have no reason to be on the fence about that platform anymore as it is the only one with a guaranteed future.

Star Ocean 4 (Xbox 360) and Versus XIII (PS3) Says HI to the bolded.

That's kinda funny cause Claude is the biggest SO fan on this site....

Exactly, which is why the Wii being the Absolute for JRPG's is just downright laughable.

Hey now, no need to get condescending. It is reaosnable to assume that JRPG support will follow Dragon Quest. Not certain, sure, but definitely reasonable.

Things change.

Once upon a time, all the JRPG were on the Nintendo side, the SuperNes.
More recently, Sony had all the JRPG support.

Now they are on a Microsoft console.
The Xbox 360 is the RPG console.

Never take things for granted in this world.
Things change.

Indeed, but only 1 out of all of them is worth playing in my opinion. and many others. no offence but alot of them has been fair to crap.

PS3 may have few compared to the 360 for now but we have better a better quality of them. Valkyria Chronicles And White Knight Chronicles may only be a couple but they both blow games like Blue Dragon And IU Out of the water. you really outta think before you post. :/

Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia are both fantastic! We need to wait for White Knight Chronicles to come out first.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

Tales series is "okay" but i was talking about my opinion, LO seems solid though no doubt about it.

And come on Level 5 is behind white knight. not saying it wont be crap but not saying it wont be epic to.

Sure, but he said "ALL" JRPG support will go to Wii, no it wont thats a fanboyish and biased commet.

It'll get more JRPG's but not all of them to think like that is ignorant.

Claude said no such thing. He said that the body of JRPG support would go to the Wii, and there are many reasons to believe that now.

If  "the definitive JRPG console" doesnt = "All" what does? Because that title belonged to the PS2 last gen.

Nothing equals "all" except for the word "all". The Playstation 2 didn't have all JRPG support last cycle, just the overwhelming majority of it.

There is nothing wrong with what Claude said. If Dragon Quest is indicative of (or a catalyst for) a trend amongst Japanese developers, the Wii very much is going to be the console to go to for JRPGs in the next two or three years.

There's no such thng as a platform with "All" the RPGs, not even PS2. The PS3 and 360 getting a couple of high and mid profile RPGs here and there doesn't change that the Wii has slowly been soaking up the majority of the Japanese console RPG support, even before Dragon Quest X. DQX just solidified its position as the dominate RPG console.

See, people. These were the type of meltdowns I was looking for the DQX thread. Where have you been hiding?
