Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Whats Next For Nintendo?

Well, as we all know Nintendo has dominated this gen with their latest system the Wii, but I wanted to know.. what's next for Nintendo? I think its safe to say the Wii is drawing in the casual crowd while Sony and Microsoft split the hardcore and get a few casuals along the way.. anyways... to me the wii has two fanbases.. the casuals who thought it would be cool to play with motion control.. and the Nintendo fans.. but what are they going to do with the next system? IMO I don't think the crowd Nintendo captured will be rushing out to buy another system without it having some major innovative things to go with it but there really isn't anything left for gaming.. its mostly all been done.. motion control.. touch screen.. eye toy like gaming.. its pretty much all be done all they can do is build on it to make it better... so anyways I didn't think the casual crowd would feel a need to update unless they take a more serious interest in gaming which in turn could cause them to take interest in a different console.. so I was wondering... what do you think will happen next gen... will Nintendo go for a more powerful console in hopes of getting that addict market.. or stick to their guns and go for the casuals again.. and do you think they will be so willing to adopt a new console without any drastic changes? Either way next gen will definitely be an interesting one. Thoughts? Uggh... sorry about the text wall... but I did this on my phone and for some reason its random and doesn't let me space things out..

Predictions.

1. Wii will never reach 50% market share.

2. Kz2 will sell 1.3 first week 3.5 LT.
Sales predictions for 09.

Wii - 69 - 72
PS3 - 32 - 34
X360 - 39 - 41

Around the Network

well. if they want to win, this is what they need to do-

1) Improve Wiimote
2) Be up to par with the graphics next gen, have them be just as good as the new xbox and playstation so all the non exclusive games are on the Wii2
3) Package an extra controller with the Wii2 that doesn't use motion controls, so no one can complain about not liking them
4) Grab a lot more casual AND hardcore attention within this gens (the Wii's) lifetime
5) Continue making great games.
6) Get more 3rd party support

I hope wii 2 comes and looks like this

If Nintendo wants motion controls to be standard, and I think they do, this would be a very bad idea.

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
Switch - The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (2019)
Switch - Bastion (2011/2018)
3DS - Star Fox 64 3D (2011)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Wii U - Darksiders: Warmastered Edition (2010/2017)
Mobile - The Simpson's Tapped Out and Yugioh Duel Links
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)

Nintendo can either grab a slice of the hardcore market and be more competitive with graphics (this market is crowded though), or continue inovating (stereoscopic 3d would probably sell numberous consoles, especially when used with a Wiimote).

Mark my words, motion controls will never be standard. They will always be optional. I for one, will never switch to motion controls.

Nintendo's already tried that. It didn't go over very well. Nowadays, stereoscopic 3D is even more of a non-starter, since it would demolish the social aspect of gaming which Nintendo has worked so hard to build up with the Wii.

Next generation will largely be a refinement of ideas which are driving this generation. Wii 2 will have HD, tighter controls, a more elegant online experience, and an even greater emphasis on social gaming. They'll squeeze in as much tech as they can for $250-300 without taking a loss on the hardware. The next revolution will come the generation after that.

Nintendo will follow the DS steps. More games for every kind of gamer.
