Forums - Sales - VG Chartz does not track Wal Mart?

what a great thread. A claim made with no evidence to back it up, and the actual post contains exactly 1 word.

Well done. 0/10

According to most of the posts in this thread, my claim, that I read in another thread, is true.

Well done. 0/10

well, it depends on how you interpret the word "track".

If you mean, are walmart sales included in the figures posted on this site, then yes.

if you mean, does vgchartz get numbers directly from walmart, then no.

Walmart has the biggest commercial database in the world, they know exactly the amounts they are selling. That information has value so they don't give it ou t.

I figured that was the most probable, but thanks for telling.

We estimate how much Walmart sells, so that isn't being left out from the total.

The reason is simply (at least I believe so, I have no clue really, just a moron who thinks he has a clue :P) that ioi doesn't have an arrangement to collect data from them. There is no reason ioi would not want to get it, so it is

A) Walmart doesn't know exactly how much they sell and such

B) They want money for it

C) They don't feel like publishing it to VGChartz.

Well done. A is wrong and B and C is virtually the same. The sentences are also written horribly.

0/10.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

I can't beleive people buy games at Wal Mart. I can always find games cheaper then there.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

not always... they do generally undercut the SRP by a little and occasionally they will order some older favorites and put them ont he 20 dollar rack... we just got a bunch of Dead Rising and I think I'll pick it up finally... played the hell out of it on gamefly

Well, ya got me with $59.97

I spend about $200 almost every week at wal mart, but games is the one thing I don't buy there. If I saw a killer deal on something I wanted, I might. But I do look at the games section every time.

I think there prices have gotten a bit more competetive lately, the price rack isn't a sea of $59.97 anymore. But chances are they either dropped their price long after gamestop or amazon did, or I can find it cheaper.

Wal-mart has always been odd when it comes to sales numbers.

Even as recently as the HD DVD vs Blu-ray war, this very issue became a key point of contention.  Considering Wal-mart was one of the larger distributors of HD DVD players, no one could put a real finger on how many units Toshiba was selling.

Had Wal-mart made these numbers public, HD DVD would have either survived longer or sank faster. My guess is that the truth that HD DVD was FAR behind in the battle would have been revealed sooner, and the Blu-ray media standard would have taken hold faster than it otherwise has.
