It is now pretty definate that Wii Fit will be the best selling game in 2008 (for list of top 20 WW sellers for the year so far, go here: http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=52237, and post too :P)

So the question is; can it do the same in 2009?

It is a title that is going to sell through the entire year, and it has the advantage compared to 2008 that it is going to sell for 50% longer time (so for the year, it would sell equally much as in 08 if it sold 1/3 less than this year).

As it looks, only 2 games are going to pass 10M in 2008 - Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii. For 2009, the only new title I see with a change of 10M (in the release year), is Wii Sports Resort - and I find that a bit doubtful to be honest.

Now, for Wii Fit to make 10M next year, it would need 150K weekly for the first 9 months, and then 300K weekly for the last 3 months. Well, slightly above that.

Both of those seem very makeable. It has now been over 200K weekly for over 20 weeks in a row (before that it had very low supply, and couldn't make that much), and has over 275K weekly as an average.

So I'd say it has a decent change of selling the most in 2009 too, and that it should definately end in the top 3.

Wii Sports Resort...

Wii sport resort should do awesome, but how awesome.

Only thing that can beat it out is probably Wii Sports Resort, but that's a bit of an outside shot depending on how much that takes off.

Do you know when Wii Sports Resort is released? I thought it was late march, but haven't found a release date, so maybe I was wrong.

As I mentioned in the OP, WSR has a good change of beating it, but as that is pretty hard to tell - are there any other games that could challenge them?

Nothing DS, as they never really sell more than 5M max a year.

Nothing PsP, as they don't really sell more than 5M maximum lifetime.

Nothing Ps3, as it just doesn't have a big enough userbase.

Possibly something X360, but it would have to be bigger than Halo 3, which I doubt it has.

So all that is left is really on Wii, but is there anything non-Wii Sports resort that should break 10M, or even 7.5M?
