If you don't understand why people "hate" Internet Explorer, then try developing a webpage using CSS and Javascript. I've not created many webpages but everything I do without fail works beautifully on Firefox first time yet takes an extra hours hacking to get IE to render it properly.

Yes, when people say they hate IE, they mean either they don't like Microsoft because of the monopoly or they'll never use it unless forced to (think school* or work) because of the standards-compliance as omgwtfbbq said or the security issues - 99% of the malware you get comes from the internet as downloads, e-mail or bad webpages, all of which other browsers protect against and especially Firefox because open-source software can be patched much quicker by volunteers.

You missed my point entirely -- if you dislike IE for lack of standards support, that's fine.  I asked why people are saying they hate it just because Microsoft makes it, which you might have read correctly if you weren't just looking for an opportunity to bash.

I don't test my web apps with IE, because I don't care if they're broken in IE.  The more time people waste making their pages look right in IE, the less time MS will spend supporting web standards.  Personally, I think they choose not to conform to the standard on purpose, as a way of keeping market share. 

Opera: quick, easy and lightweight.

Firefox, because it's easy to use and the plugins like AdBlock are great. IE isn't as bad as people like to pretend it is...but Firefox is certainly better.

Opera...but that's only because my Firefox keeps crashing, if anyones got any tips to fix this i'd be very grateful (and yes i have re-installed it...several times).
