I received the emailed UPS mailing label a matter of minutes after getting off the phone with support. I, unlike Mr lazy stickball rushed to my UPS store and had my 360 mailed out in under an hour. The MS instructions email came 8 hours after I mailed my 360. Here it is for your reading pleasure. Turn around time depends on how close you live to Texas where the repair facility is. MS will ship your 360 back out 2-3 days after UPS marks it delivered. If you sent in an HDMI 360, you get an HDMI 360 back. If you send in a pre-HDMI 360, you get a pre-HDMI 360 back. ---------- I want to say wiki has an entry about the RROD and repairs. MS sank mad loot into new motherboards with the updated, less likely to RROD features. They do not sell the boards to the public - they have them at the McAllen center. They get an old Xbox, rip out the guts and ship it back. Good luck getting an HDMI unit when you send in your Core or Premium. ----------- Don't rely on the MS site to check if they have received/sent back your 360. They are slow in updating it. It may have already been shipped back before they update it as received. Feel free to ship it back in the original 360 box if you don't mind not getting it back. It takes a special kind of stupid theif to steal something being mailed to "repair facility". Keep the box they mail it back in, just in case you get a future RROD. ----- Not really - you would be shocked at how many of these come up missing. Since a lot of folks can fix them, they know where to go in McAllen, Texas. It's not a big place and MS will clearly tell you to not put Xbox or Repair Center anywhere on the box. -------

@mrstickball
forced warranty but does the job.... but what about people that live overseas, many of my friends that got RROD say warranty it's only applicable in the US.
so they had to sent their boxes and pay to ship them there?.
i hope they get the % of failure to less than 2% before Star ocean 4 it's out >_>.

MS designed a special mother board called "Opus" It's a Falcon class mother board without HDMI designed to fit into older pre-falcon xbox cases which do not have HDMI ports holes cut into the case.
If your broken 360 has HDMI, you'll get an HDMI 360 back.
Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

My oct 2007 Falcon got an E74 general hardware error, same symptoms with the GPU as the old RROD.
Happened during Rockband 2 too

My Dec 2007 Falcon got the E74 error as well. The E74 error is covered for only 1 year after purchase so I lucked out having it occur in November than in Feb 2009. Everything I've read online says the E74 error is basically the RRoD, but with only 1 red quadrant. If my just arrived MS refurbished console suffers an E74 error in March 2009 or later I'm going to be pissed.
When mine RROD'd, it took exactly one week from the day I sent it off to get it back. But then again, the repair center is about an hour away from my house... so I'm sure that factors in to the prompt turnaround.
