LMAO, quite nice.
Anyway, it looks like a Call of Duty game, which tend to sell very well. Although, it has the bad Killzone 1 stench around it(I mean how damned hyped I got for the first one, only to hate its very existance.) I expect pretty much what everyone else does; 1-1.5mil. If it ends up being like the first Killzone, I will put my heart into making people hate it. But if not, I will happily become a Killzone fan and pulverize the online :P
GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
I know it's cool to hate the PS3, but a lot of these predictions are depressingly and unrealistically low. Do people really think it will sell under 2 million assuming it gets good reviews? Do I even need to explain why some of these predictions are just beyond awful?
Week one means nothing to me. Its not about opening week, its about LTD. (see uncharted)
I say 3.5 million LTD
Playstation 3 owner since December 25th, 2006
It's getting released too close to lots of shooters
Resistance 2, Call of Duty:WaW, Call of Duty:WaW2 :P
The first one sold less than a million on the PS2
On the other hand, apparently it's better than the PS2 one.
So it'll break a million no problem. Could even push two if this rumored March price cut is true
Kantor said: To begin with, LBP is going to sell a LOT more than 1.5 million LTD. LBP does not fit the PS3's audience. Killzone 2 does fit the PS3's audience. CoD4 will easily cross 4 million, and you think those people are going to buy one shooter a year? No, they buy lots of shooters. If people see this advertised, they will see how amazing it looks, and they will forget about Killzone 1. Which, by the way, sold over 2 million units. The reason Resistance 2 sold badly is because World at War was releasing at roughly the same time. The CoD audience are only going to buy one game at a time, and if it's between CoD5 and another shooter, they will choose the Call of Duty. Killzone 2 launches in February. That is three months after CoD:WaW. The shooter fans will want another FPS. They will look for the best FPS on the PS3, and find Killzone 2. That is why I predict 700k first week, 4-4.5 million LTD. |
Also worth noting that a lot of multi console owners bought CoD4 for the 360 and a lot of them will want to buy and play Killzone 2 on the PS3.

I hated the first Killzone, gameplay sucked, AI sucked, voice acting sucked, dialog sucked, the only thing it had going for it was design and atmosphere. I forced myself to play through it to see the story and I never played it online. With that said, after I got into Killzone 2 beta, I've put in more than 10 hours into it (way more than any beta/demo before it) and I am pre ordering Killzone 2.

Goes both ways, Crazzyman prediction is ridiculous too.

The first one sold over 2 million.

I tried earlier, but was ignored.
Uncharted managed to break the two million mark in only a year, despite the fact that it looks like "Dude Raider" to anybody who hasn't played it. Many people initially wrote the game off because of things like this. Claming it looked generic, and whatnot. Why would Killzone 2 sell any less?
In the end, Killzone 2 is a great shooter with pretty graphics, and those sell. It will probably track similarly to Call of Duty 4, regardless of what memories people may have of the first. Call of Duty 3 wasn't recieved so favorably, yet Call of Duty 4 came along and more than tripled it's predecessors sales on all platforms, due to great word of mouth stemming from the fact that it was a really good game, and arguably the best looking game on consoles at the time.
Price reduction of PS3 + release of K2, a million seller worldwide for the first week.
