Forums - Gaming - Will Madden ...Sack the Wii? or Light up the Scoreboard?

I doubt the Wii version will outsell the PS3 one - maybe PS3 week #1, and Wii in the long term.

If someone owns a Wii & other (360 or PS3) console, I can't see why they would buy the Wii version. Its not a game where the Wiimote should make a significant difference to the gameplay (or am I wrong? never played Madden BTW...).

No question that the PS2 & 360 versions will lead overall sales. They have the better install bases.

I think Madden will have better legs on the Wii then on the PS3. People see these kind of games and want to try it with the Wiimote. Tiger Woods PGA Tour is another that will do really well on the Wii. New Wii users look at the library and are willing to try older games. Sports games have a bright future on the Wii.

It looks like EA is going for a more casual Madden experience on the Wii (complete with minigames) and a hardcore indepth experience on the other next gen systems.  It should be interesting to see which Madden fans decide on.

How the hell does voice chat make Madden more "hardcore"?

When the hell did Madden get listed as "hardcore" in the first place? Isn't that an oxymoron?

I never said that voice chat makes Madden more "hardcore".  It's the fact that they excluded features in the game to make room for casual gaming elements in the Wii version that makes it more casual.

I did originally have a comment about voice chat missing from the Wii version of the game (which it is) but removed it because it had nothing to do with the hardcore/casual statement I was making.

360>PS2>>PS3>Wii>>PC>DS>PSP>>XBox>GC

That's how it'll end up IMO

Well, I just preordered it for my Wii in hopes that the "family friendly mode" of play appeals to the others in my household. I used to be big fan of the early madden series on the sega genesis but it was a lot simpler then. Along the way the game got so dang complex that it took a while to really get the controls down and become competitive. What that did was make it hard to find other people to play that were of roughly the same skillset. Hopefully simplified controls will bring back the weekend gamer. We'll see I guess.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

The graphics on Madden don't matter nearly as much as you think.

TRUE STORY:

I used to work in a privately owned, used CD/DVD/VG store. We had a TV in the back with a PS2 hooked up and a game continually playing. The only problem was that sometimes, people would steal the controller or game. We put a padlock on the controller. To keep the game safe, we decided to put in a copy of Madden 2001, surely, surely, no one would steal THAT (once or twice, they did).

The point is though, that on MANY occasions a Madden Fan (yes, they are THAT easy to spot) would get all excited "Is that the NEW [version of] Madden?"

"Ummm . . . no."

We also would have people who were clueless about video games come in and ask if that was a real game going on.

"No."

"Well, it looks pretty real."

Madden 2-0-0-1 . . .

People are NOT as obsessed, or even aware of graphics as many in the VG industry like to think.

You have to be pretty retarded to think a PS2 game, let alone Madden 2001, look anything like real life.

I don't know anymore, I think I am changing my prediction. I don't like football games, but they put so much work into Wii '08 that I might get it. It looks really good, '07 played really good, the sound is almost identical every year but solid. I might buy it. I think other Wii owners may feel like I do.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Well it should definetly be one of the better selling Madden games on a Nintendo console in a long while. I think it could gut out 750k in its lifetime.

Really? I'd actually give Madden Wii 1 million lifetime.

Well that is definetly possible.  I thought I was going out on a limb saying 750k but 1 million.  Well it's definetly going out there.  We still have to remember this is Madden on a Nintendo console.  But if there was ever a Madden game on a Nintendo console that had a good chance of going platinum its probably this one.  And online for the game really might be a huge seller as there are only 2 other Wii games with online.

So I guess we'll wait and see.
