Madden 07 PS3- 412,768 on 1.78 million PS3s

Madden 07 Wii- 389,755 on 4.07 million Wiis

That must mean something...

It means we have a lot of other games to be playing. I don't think Nintendo owners are really into sports titles as much. I remember things being like this back on the Cube as well. I like Madden just fine though. I might get it, but there's just too many other games I want more.

The majority of Wii owners are casuals, meaning they do like sports games.

This generation, if Nintendo's strategy continues to work as it is now, casuals will drive the Wii not Nintendo fans.

 To me it means that Expectations weren't very high for a game with no online, an unproven control scheme, and on a system whose predecessors had never gotten more than watered down afterthought ports in the series.

The fact that most of the PS3's boost came from around launch period, and right now the Wii version is selling slightly higher than the PS3 version suggests I'm right.

My detective skills falter once you get to the PS3 numbers though.

It means that the Wii should sell more copies as the gap between installed base increases.

Depends on the online. Everyone's got a boner for online games anymore (I don't know why).  I like the Wifi deal, because it's free, and I hope some madden people maybe jump on the Wii to play. 

I personally like to play alone, or with my friends at my house. That's just me.

The people who bought the PS3 and Wii Maddens probably don't know or care for those features you mentioned as the ones that did already bought the Madden 07 games when they actually came out months earlier on the PS2 and 360 instead of picking them up a half a year later on the new consoles.

Most of the Madden purchases on both these consoles were casuals and not the madden 'core' for lack of a better term.

Oh well, you can't win em all. Good for the PS3 I guess. It needs all the help it can get.
