You can't compare retail bundles with manufacturer bundles. Lots of retailers offer loss leaders with various consoles, for their own money-making purposes. The retail sector wants desperately to push Blu-Ray... the PS3 is just part of that strategy. Sony has nothing to do with retail-specific bundles. The cheaper 283.79 bundle you mention above is not a Sony official bundle, to my knowledge.
The fact that Target, this week, is offering $20 gift certificates to X360 Arcade buyers has nothing to do with MS, either... Get it?

Thats a worst case scenario and if it happens (which I think is impossible anyway), those games will come VERY cheap lol.
OT, ps3 sales aren't bad for crying out loud. The 360 and wii are just doing much better. PS3 already beat DC's sales, and could beat N64, GC, Xbox and possibly even SNES which had almost 10 years to sell.

It is an official product, it's sold on Europe in some contries like Italy and Uk, and it's not only limited to retailers:

The colorful box is more expensive to produce. All of the cool bright colors cost more to print than black and white. ~_n
The mods in GT are horrible, they have no control over the forums, you can literally curse someone's mother out and not even be warned for it.
