Forums - Sales Discussion - Comparing last years turkey week to this year's.

Okay.

This means that the growth is likely to be

Wii: + 90-100%

DS: + 25-30%

X360: + 90-110%

PsP: + 25-30%

Ps3:  + 25-30%

And for the last two months, the YoY growth has been

Wii: + 40%

DS: + 8%

X360: - 24%

PsP: -25%

Ps3: +36%

So all consoles have far, far bigger increases YoY this week than they have had the last 2 months (epescially 360), except for the Ps3, which looks like it might have a smaller growth. That doesn't look very good for the Ps3's December.

@orvoyvoyvoy

expect PS3 ones for the last 2 months to be skewed

as Ps3 got a price drop this month last year....so now it is selling at the same price point since a year....despite this it shows a 25% growth....I am happy,

the ps3 is holding off well in these times;)

It's good that the PS3 gained from last year's turkey week despite the economic crisis.

Wow at the Wii, DS and 360. All selling amazingly.

PSP and PS3 are selling pretty well, both tracking above last year. I think PS3 could just hit 20 million LTD this holiday season after all.

PS2 has obviously gone down, but just the fact that it is selling 8 years on is a testament to its quality.

The Wii surprises me especially. I knew there was demand > supply last year, but to go from 440k to 800k Year Over Year? It's a beast. An absolute beast.

i was just going to say that, its lower than 360 but thats understandable giving the economy, ie. the $199 arcade will make a good gift and it only cost them $199 as apposed to $399

but imo the ps3 sales are very admirable, with also 200k+ ps2 sales and 200k+ psp sales, although not perfect.....it could have been much worse for sony...........i belive ps3 will pull through ok rest of year. 2009 will be intresting

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I think we should wait for the NPD results.

I will be very happy if ps3 manages 225K....over 50K more from last year without price drop.

it does indicate price point saturation....but still not an emergency in any case....lower than the competition yes but not bad for its price & demand at that level.

The PS3 80GB dropped from $500 to $400 since last year's sales. 40GB was discontinued, 160GB entered for $500.  Lots have changed, but still there was a price drop of some kind between last year's and this year's sales.
