It's got something to do with being almost as bad as murder yet much much much more common.

The chances of a woman getting raped are ridiculiously high... even in developed countries.

Not going to say people can't say it. However there is a reason women are generally offended by it... because well... it's a serious problem.

@Soleron you may argue people are applying their own meaning to the word when saying "he got raped in Halo" but using the world in that context without knowledge of the act of rape would have little to no meaning , fair enough if the slang use of the word and the actual use of the word is the same but it isn't.

The way some people use the word rape is inspired by the act of rape , I can't see that being acceptable.

Would it be alright to say "Lol I mollested that dude like a 3yr old kid in Halo 3." obviously I'm showing no intention of molesting 3 yr old kids but it's still inspired by paedophilia.
