None of those matter if he refuse to pay for online. (i should really cross out controller since that really isnt a reason to buy a console, it's your opinion, and he said no fany boy arguements)

OP - a list of games you like (genres or titles) would help out a lot.

if u like fps and rpgs get a 360, if u want action/stealth and racing, and some fps get a ps3. either way both are great choices. both have good online functions and a good selection of movies, the 360 u can play alot of the xbox games on it and the ps3 u can only play ps1 games on it for backwards play. bluray player is a nice feature, the only problem with that is the movies cost way too much. overall get the system that best suits your gaming needs, not the gaming needs of your friends.

id get a ps3..............better games better online plus its free.............built in bluray and wireless..............comes with plug and charge............and killzone 2 is just around the corner..............will have best games in 2009 by a longshot............mabey even a possible announcement on the new ps3 only rockstar franchise

Even though I still like PS3 more than X360 you should probably get a X360. I can't/wont consider such a badly designed controller (just like the previous one) and a console with the highest failure rate of perhaps all time as worth purchasing. But obviously others have been and are willing to take that risk.

if games and price is not a factor and you dont want to pay for online then PS3 would be the choice, you also want to play with your mates who have PS3.

Get a PS3 dude if you want online.

You have friends with it, so your online experience will be better anyway.

If you don't want to go online, or you don't value online get a 360. You can also buy a LOT of cheap games for the 360 when you're in America as well so the total cost of ownership will be lower as you can buy 5-6 games of your choice to make up the difference in price.

Xbox 360 Arcade $200
HDMI Cable $220
Total $220

So really now its a question of how much you value online, Blu Ray or that $200 you can spend on a huge selection of cheap used and new games.

So to sum up:

The PS3 is better if you value online with your friends, value blu ray or the specific Sony games.

The 360 is better if you want a greater value machine for just playing games at home with no online.

yeah, i forgot halo...and let me add the 450+ original xbox games you can play.
