i see alot of fails on this thread

Why don't you call a few of them out, see if you can stand up in an argument with those people instead of trolling.

so you know i was reffering to you huh LOL

I had my suspictions. You'll find that I know a lot of things you wouldn't expect.

hype behind gt5p made it sell like this ???oh boy..i love that excuse

Yes, hype and "word of mouth" help games sell. News at 11.

i really can't remember fans or Sony labeling the game as the full game

What you can remember is neither here, nor there. GT5P did have a demo, in Japan, if I recall.

You see, 321ttrif459dkkfs, when GT5P was first released, the common Sony playbook entry was, "Hype the game as a major release, so it will seem as if Sony has a good game released on its console." Now, after the game has been out for a while and Sony actually had some real games release on its console, the Sony playbook has changed to reflect that. The tagline now indicates that, "Look how well it sold, and it's just a demo."

Again, it's changed from, "This is a great new release from Sony" to "It's just a demo" simply because those arguments are better for appearences of the console and the game, at the time they are touted.

u got number 5 correct

I have them all correct. Those aren't my "guesses." Those are the reasons that GT5P has sold as well as it has. None of them were meant to insult the game, but I'm not gonna coddle Sony fans and their illusions either. IMHO.

Factors obviously exist outside of "the franchise is huge" that have led to the sales(or lackthereof) of this game, be they good or bad. The same holds true with all games.

Perhaps I would have been better served to explain why this game has sold only 2.5 million copies. That answer is much more simple: It's just a demo. Now, if I would have said that when the game was first released, I would have been flamed, by you, and your friends. Do you think that isn't true?

hype and word of mouth = help sells games ?? LOL really ? i thought it was reviews(although enter the matrix sold great with kind of bad reviews)

btw..the underlined portion is what you believe...clearly an opinion...saw tons of youtube videos where ppl stated the game was not the full game and it has more cars than grid...every one was well aware that gt5p was not GT5

highlighted portion is just laughable...pure fail right there

Alright, here are a few of your assertions that I consider ignorant:

You believe:

1. Reviews determine sales, not hype.

Not true. Look at LBP, BG&E, and Okami. Great reviews, mediocre sales. There are tons more titles to include here. Hype, marketing, word of mouth. Those things are far more responsible for sales of any given game.

2. You say that some youtube video's state that the game isn't a complete stand-alone game.

My assertion was that the game was hyped by PS3 fans, and that Sony itself never called the game a demo, but instead a full-game. A demo for GT5P was actually released in Japan. Was that a demo of a demo? Sony certainly never calls the game a demo. It calls it a "game." Some PS3 fans reject calling the game a demo, as I've quoted, and ALL PS3 fans hyped the game. Again, you are focusing on one aspect of my overall argument because you think you can formulate a point against it. There is a whole entire list of points you have yet to address.

3. You can use childish internet expressions like "fail" to seriously debate someone.

Sir, what you are doing is trolling. You can't tell someone that they "fail" without backing it up in some way. Not everyone agrees with what you think is so obvious. You are dangeriously close to catching a ban, I'd bet.

You can troll through life without ever putting any effort into anything, but sir, if you plan on addressing me, I would appreciate some effort.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

don't mind me asking, but what's BG&E?

EDIT: scratch that. n/m

Wonder what PSn sales are for it.

yeh, for all we know GT5P payed for the entire developement for GT5. 2.2 million sold not including PSN sales, i actually brought it. i regret not buying it when it was released, i love the game, i actually beat it and now i understand why everyone loves this game/francise.

can't wait for the full game, should be out before christmas next year, if it lives b3yond its hype and sony bundles it, we can imagine ps3's flying off the shelfs

I bought the game over PSN. I liked it alot, although I don't usually care much for racing sims. The in-car view is awesome, I think i'm going to get the full game for sure. And considering what we know of the full game, this isn't even 5%....

I also love the fact that they keep adding to the game too, like the GT-TV feature, more cars (like the Citroen GT - made specifically for the game I might add). A paid "demo" that keeps getting addons of good quality imo should sell well.

Well worth the price imo

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

GT5P is AWESOME!

I don't think GT5 costs as much to make as some of you think. Polyphony digital is only 110-120 workers. They don't pay for the rights to use cars, like other game developers either.

Look at the size of the team behind MGS4, it was up around 300 at one point from what i remember hearing.  And that game never broke any records for cost.
