Forums - Gaming - Multi-Disc Final Fantasy XIII On 360 Looking Likely

Well it is uo to you if u prefer installation for 20 minutes and the lost of 5GB HDD-space or switching discs 3 times for 45seconds, without losing space on the HDD.

That is odd, BluRay offers so much space, but developers are just not able to use this as advantage. So the PS3 won't have an advantage due to BluRay. Like in every other multi-plat game before. Blue Dragon comes on 6discs i guess, Infinite Undiscovery on two, Lost Odyssey on four.

the greatest game ever, shenmue I/II, came on 7 discs and it did not affect gameplay in any way.

Developers are perfectly able to use the advantage. All they need to do is focus on the PS3 hardware, and it looks amazing.

Why do you think it is that no multiplat on PS3 looks as good as MGS4, Uncharted or KZ2?

One of which has a compulsory install. Actually, it has six. But it's still awesome.

One of which has an optional install

One of which does not have an install at ALL.

In fact, I know of three games with a 5GB install.

-MGS4. Look at the character models and resolution. And the fast, few and far between loading times.

-BioShock. Multiplat. I honestly don't know why it's so big.

-Oblivion. Multiplat. Well, look at Cyrodiil. I can see why it takes so much space. Also, it was very early in the console's lifespan, it was Bethesda's first project for the PS3, and I say they did pretty damned well.

Capcoms Lost Planet PS3 version takes up nearly 5GB and the Install is not optional, great game but for the amount it takes? not worth it, i may uninstall it at some point when i get greater and better games.

Final Fantasy VII was three discs, Final Fantasy VIII was four discs, Final Fantasy IX was four, and on the 360, Lost Odyssey has already been four discs. Which begs the question...

So what?

the so what is just the fact its way better on one disk then multiple disks so you don't have to switch it over.

example on 360 - Level 5 completed...(please insert disk 2)

on PS3 - Level 5 completed...Level 6

I don't think "way better" means what you think it means.

I mean, I'll probably go with a full install since I have the hard drive space, but I don't recall fretting over having to change a disc. Ever.

The "FFVII 3 disc" justification is invalid while the "load time vs. game install" is also invalid. The bigger picture here is that developers had no other choices but CD's and cartridges during the 32/64 bit days where CD's proved to be more advantageous. Choices now are Blu-ray and DVD's where as the console industry progresses, Blu-ray has proven more advantageous. It's not as much a CD's and cartridges, but still advantages. And with the NXE, is seems that hard drive installs will be the preference at this rate on the 360 when given the oppotunity even though it's not required. So now both the 360 and PS3 has the common advantage of hard drive installation.

Correct, but furthermore has the 360 the advantage of futur online distribution via XBL. So that disc issue is irrelevant.

I don't see Sony killing the BR for online distribution...

But I won't write anything else and let the Fanboys posting glorified BS...

"Ahahaha imagine the 360 retared getting their 25 discs game ... hhihihih ... ohohoh .... BR rulez... viva Sony..."

Uh... you do know that the PSN also has game and video distribution as well, right?

Absolutly, but I believe that abandoning the disc format is the goal of MS not Sony ...

I won't start the debat again here, but for me PSN is a "nice to have", while XBL is the futur of MS...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

oh I see, sorry. I normally avoid aliased links for fear of rickrolls.

My bad.

Although my point about not yet knowing about FFXIII having a mandatory install still stands. I think. lol

@Spankey: If you mouse over a link, it shows the target URL. I don't think I've ever been rickrolled on VGChartz.

Don't worry, the link is safe.
