Forums - Sales - Halo 3 "WILL/WON'T" push 360 numbers through the roof?

won't (-75k). i trust N to put out more Wiis on that week, just in case people who had given up and were going for the 360 might change their mind....

@Sullla ) - judging from your text you mean Won't (- 30k) right?

If this is for US only, I'll say,

"Will +25K"

If this is world wide, I'll say:

"Won't -100K"

People taking into account the price drop?  I am predicting it will out sell the wii NA and WW. The last time the 360 sold really well was when gears came out and the makers of gears have said Halo 3 will break all those records.  Hope they are right :)

By the way I wasn't planning on buying Halo 3 but that 4 player co-op did it for me as I can only imagine the fun that will be.

Won't. As already stated, the 360 is already owned by 95% of the people who would be getting Halo 3 anyways.

See, in Halo's case, if someone was going to get a 360 for Halo 3, they'd have already just went and gotten it (most likely) to keep playing Halo 2 on, and maybe a few similar games.

Additionally, the Wii will, by then, have a pretty decent number of new system-sellers of its own out. Metroid Prime 3, Mario Strikers Charged, and Madden '08 are all games on the Wii that haven't/won't get the immediate attention they deserve, for example. Their sales will continue into September, easily, and they will help keep the 360 tide back.

The 360 price drop is incredibly low, and the systems it helps move won't affect numbers significantly. An average of $33.33 price-drop a system that averages $394 sales costs is very minimal. Very few will care about that.

I'd put it at -150k.

Won't.  (-42K)

Most of the people that wanted Halo 3 bought it last year when Gears of War came out.  Combine that with the remaining people that bought it when Crackdown came out with the Halo 3 beta and you have limited potential for sales.  I actually own two small used game stores so I get a pretty good gauge talking to customers on what they are buying.  I have not heard from anyone that does not already have a 360 that is excited about Halo 3.  On a odd note I am hearing from a lot of people talking about they are buying a Ps3 for GTA4 though.  And most of them I talk to still have no clue that it is even coming out for the 360.     I am curious if those Nintendo stockpiling rumors are true.  If so wouldn't Halo week be a great time for nintendo to double or triple the shipment alotment for that week just for fun.

I forgot to give a +/- so here's my guess again: Won't (-130k)

No it wont, most people that wanted halo 3 got a 360.

-100k

In North America on the week of release it will get close with the XBox 360 potentially passing the Wii ...

Worldwide (or in every region for the month) the XBox 360 won't even get close ...

Will.
